Diffractive X-ray Telescopes [PDF]
Diffractive X-ray telescopes using zone plates, phase Fresnel lenses, or related optical elements have the potential to provide astronomers with true imaging capability with resolution several orders of magnitude better than available in any other ...

Multifocal versus monofocal intraocular lenses after cataract extraction. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Good unaided distance visual acuity is now a realistic expectation following cataract surgery and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Near vision, however, still requires additional refractive power, usually in the form of reading glasses ...

Ultrathin, polarization-independent, and focus-tunable liquid crystal diffractive lens for augmented reality [PDF]
Despite the recent advances in augmented reality (AR), which has shown the potential to significantly impact on our daily lives by offering a new way to manipulate and interact with virtual information, minimizing visual discomfort due to the vergence ...

Dynamic freeform diffractive lens
In the framework of the scalar theory of diffraction a surface-pixeled convergent lens for arbitrary amplitude and phase modulation along the depth of focus is introduced. This complex diffractive lens is computer-generated from an exact solution of the inverse focal shaping problem obtained by using the Fresnel diffraction integral.

Optical design and performance of a trifocal sinusoidal diffractive intraocular lens.
Two theoretical sinusoidal diffractive profile models to build up a trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) are analysed. Topographic features of the diffractive zones such as their shape, step height and radii, as well as the energy efficiency (EE) of the foci,

Ultra-thin near infrared camera enabled by a flat multi-level diffractive lens.
We experimentally demonstrate a ∼1-mm-thick near infrared camera comprised of a multi-level diffractive lens coupled with a conventional monochrome image sensor.

Scattering of gravitational radiation: second order moments of the wave amplitude [PDF]
Gravitational radiation that propagates through an inhomogeneous mass distribution is subject to random gravitational lensing, or scattering, causing variations in the wave amplitude and temporal smearing of the signal.

Compressive Spectral Imaging with Diffractive Lenses
Compressive spectral imaging enables to reconstruct the entire three-dimensional (3D) spectral cube from a few multiplexed images. Here, we develop a novel compressive spectral imaging technique using diffractive lenses.

Ionization waves of arbitrary velocity driven by a flying focus
A chirped laser pulse focused by a chromatic lens exhibits a dynamic, or "flying," focus in which the trajectory of the peak intensity decouples from the group velocity.
