Stability of distributed adaptive algorithms II: Diffusion algorithms

2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2015
In recent years a number of novel distributed parameter estimation algorithms have been developed stimulated by applications in cognitive radio, robotics, wireless networks and sensor networks. However, existing performance analyses have used white noise assumptions extensively.

Diffuse Fingerprint Search Algorithm

2018
Fingerprint positioning is a commonly choice for indoor positioning. It has a room-level positioning accuracy which is most necessary for indoor positioning because of efficient apply and circumvention of the occlusion and reflection of complex indoor structures.

Evolutionary diffusion optimization.I. Description of the algorithm

Proceedings of the 2002 Congress on Evolutionary Computation. CEC'02 (Cat. No.02TH8600), 2003
This article proposes a new population-based stochastic search algorithm called evolutionary diffusion optimization (EDO) inspired by diffusion in nature. Each entity in EDO makes the decision to diffuse based on the information shared between its parent and its siblings. The behavior of EDO when solving a typical optimization problem is also discussed.

Robust competitive diffusion LMS algorithm

Signal, Image and Video Processing, 2019
The main drawback of the diffusion least mean square algorithm (DLMS) is its performance will degrade when the impulsive noise (IN) occurs in the system. To improve the performance, a robust competitive DLMS (RCDLMS) algorithm based on two types of effective IN detection method is proposed.

Error-diffusion algorithm with edge enhancement

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1989
The error diffusion algorithm proposed by Floyd and Steinberg for the binarization of continuous tone input exhibits an inherent edge enhancement. An explanation for this enhancement is given and a way to increase or decrease the enhancement inside the error diffusion algorithm is demonstrated.

Anisotropic reaction-diffusion stereo algorithm

2011 11th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications, 2011
This paper presents a reaction-diffusion stereo algorithm with anisotropic diffusion. The reaction-diffusion stereo algorithm detects the stereo disparity, by finding a one-to-one stereo correspondence between the left and right images. There is often ambiguity in finding stereo correspondences because of a lack of texture or similar brightness ...

An iterative diffusion algorithm for part disassembly

IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2004. Proceedings. ICRA '04. 2004, 2004
The paper presents an efficient collision-free path planner for mechanical part disassembly simulation. The principle of the algorithm involves computing a first path while allowing some penetration within the obstacles. Then the current paths are iteratively re-shaped by decreasing the allowed penetration threshold.

Diffusion LMS algorithms with information exchange

2008 42nd Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2008
We consider the problem of distributed estimation, where a set of nodes are required to collectively estimate some parameter of interest. We motivate and propose new versions of the diffusion LMS algorithm, including a version that outperforms previous solutions without increasing the complexity or communications, and others that obtain even better ...

Parallelisation of algorithms for advection diffusion problems

Simulation Practice and Theory, 1995
The numerical algorithm in the simulation package TRIWAQ is analysed for inherent parallelism. One equation solver that is used for the discretised momentum equations appears to be purely sequential. A comparison with alternative solvers for an advection diffusion test problem indicates however that it is extremely effective on a sequential computer ...

Quantization noise and the error diffusion algorithm

Journal of Electronic Imaging, 1994
The error diffusion algorithm is a flexible and powerful procedure to quantize pictures and holograms. Its free parameters allow controlled transformation of the quantization noise. The influence of the object on the quantization noise is shown. A method is presented to modify the object before it is quantized to reduce the object-dependent component ...
