Energy-Based Diffusion Language Models for Text Generation

International Conference on Learning Representations
Despite remarkable progress in autoregressive language models, alternative generative paradigms beyond left-to-right generation are still being actively explored. Discrete diffusion models, with the capacity for parallel generation, have recently emerged

Approximating Non-linear Diffusion

2003
We assess the feasibility of approximating non-linear diffusion processes with simple local Gaussian filters. The purpose of doing this is twofold. Firstly, the theoretical implications are by themselves interesting. Secondly, a successful method would reduce the need for computationally expensive implementations of non-linear diffusion schemes.

A Double-ended Queue with Catastrophes and Repairs, and a Jump-diffusion Approximation

, 2011
Consider a system performing a continuous-time random walk on the integers, subject to catastrophes occurring at constant rate, and followed by exponentially-distributed repair times. After any repair the system starts anew from state zero. We study both

Approximating Diffusions with Trees

2001
In this appendix, we show how to approximate a diffusion process with a tree. The general procedure we outline is used throughout the book in the tree construction for both one-factor and two-factor short-rate models. In the one-factor case, the tree is constructed by imposing that the conditional local mean and variances at each node are equal to ...

A Diffusion Approximation for an Epidemic Model

2006
Influenza is one of the most common and severe diseases worldwide. Devastating epidemics actuated by a new subtype of the influenza A virus occur again and again with the most important example given by the Spanish Flu in 1918/19 with more than 27 million deaths.
