Diffusion coefficients

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998
For nearly a century, the absorption coefficient has been used as a measure for the amount of energy lost when sound reflects from a surface. There is now a need for a diffusion coefficient which measures the angular distribution of the reflected energy.

Diffusion Coefficients of Metabolites

2001
The conversion rate of most immobilized cells depends not only on the availability of substrates and microbial kinetics, the diffusion rate of metabolites through the immobilized cell system is of major importance as well. Therefore, characterization of the internal mass transfer properties may be considered essential for the modelling, design and ...

Diffusion, the Diffusion Coefficient, and Mechanisms of Diffusion

1970
Diffusion is the way in which matter is transported through matter. It occurs by approximately random motions of the atoms in a crystal lattice. The net result of many such random movements of a large number of atoms is actual displacement of matter, the movement being activated by the thermal energy of the crystal.
