Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Diffusion equation for composite materials

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2000
In this article, we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the diffusion equation with non-homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. This equation models a composite material that occupies a perforated domain, in ${mathbb R}^N$, with small holes ...

On Fuzzy Solutions for Diffusion Equation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2015
Our main goal is to define a fuzzy solution for problems involving diffusion. To this end, the solution of fuzzy diffusion-reaction-advection equation will be defined as Zadeh’s extension of deterministic solution of the associated problem.

Systematic Investigation of the Physical and Electrochemical Characteristics of the Vanadium (III) Acidic Electrolyte With Different Concentrations and Related Diffusion Kinetics

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Owing to the lack of systematic kinetic theory about the redox reaction of V(III)/V(II), the poor electrochemical performance of the negative process in vanadium flow batteries limits the overall battery performance to a great extent.

Effective numerical treatment of sub-diffusion equation with non-smooth solution

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we investigate a sub-diffusion equation for simulating the anomalous diffusion phenomenon in real physical environment. Based on an equivalent transformation of the original sub-diffusion equation followed by the use of a smooth operator ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Retarding Sub- and Accelerating Super-Diffusion Governed by Distributed Order Fractional Diffusion Equations

open access: yes, 2002
We propose diffusion-like equations with time and space fractional derivatives of the distributed order for the kinetic description of anomalous diffusion and relaxation phenomena, whose diffusion exponent varies with time and which, correspondingly, can

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Low-Complexity Numerical Approach for the Diffusion Equation with Variable Diffusion Coefficient

open access: yesMathematics
The diffusion equation models a wide variety of physical and chemical processes and has significant interest in many scientific disciplines. Analytical and numerical methods found in the literature for solving the diffusion equation consider a constant ...

Linearized Kompaneetz equation as a relativistic diffusion

open access: yes, 2009
We show that Kompaneetz equation describing photon diffusion in an environment of an electron gas, when linearized around its equilibrium distribution, coincides with the relativistic diffusion discussed in recent publications.
