Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

On the Equation of Diffusion [PDF]
Under the title "The Analytical Theory of Probability," A. Kolmogoroff [1] published a few years ago a mathematically elegant account of what might be called the general theory of diffusion. As the main result of his analysis, he sets up two differential equations for transition probabilities (see below).

Power spectrum and diffusion of the Amari neural field
We study the power spectrum of a space-time dependent neural field which describes the average membrane potential of neurons in a single layer. This neural field is modelled by a dissipative integro-differential equation, the so-called Amari equation. By

The McCance Brain Care Score and Mortality: Evidence From a Large‐Scale Population‐Based Cohort
ABSTRACT Objectives This study aimed to examine the relationship between the McCance Brain Care Score (BCS) and mortality in the general population. Methods We conducted a prospective, population‐based cohort study using data from the UK Biobank. Participants with complete data enabling calculation of BCS and full mortality information were included ...

The Normal Cross Numerical Method Used to Solve the Anisotropic Diffusion Problem
In order to solve the two dimensional anisotropic diffusion problem, an efficient normal crossing numerical method was proposed. The program was written in FORTRAN language to realize numerical calculation.

Hybrid simulations of lateral diffusion in fluctuating membranes
In this paper we introduce a novel method to simulate lateral diffusion of inclusions in a fluctuating membrane. The regarded systems are governed by two dynamic processes: the height fluctuations of the membrane and the diffusion of the inclusion along ...

Age‐Related Characteristics of SYT1‐Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorder
ABSTRACT Objectives We describe the clinical manifestations and developmental abilities of individuals with SYT1‐associated neurodevelopmental disorder (Baker‐Gordon syndrome) from infancy to adulthood. We further describe the neuroradiological and electrophysiological characteristics of the condition at different ages, and explore the associations ...

Two classes of nonlocal Evolution Equations related by a shared Traveling Wave Problem
We consider reaction-diffusion equations and Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers (KdVB) equations, i.e. scalar conservation laws with diffusive-dispersive regularization.

ABSTRACT Objective The Gold Coast criteria permit diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) even without upper motor neuron (UMN) signs. However, whether ALS patients with UMN signs (ALSwUMN) and those without (ALSwoUMN) share similar characteristics and prognoses remains unclear.

Impulsive Diffusion Equation on Time Scales
Application of boundary value problems (BVP’s) on an arbitrary time scale T is a fairly new and important subject in mathematics. In this study, we deal with an eigenvalue problem for impulsive diffusion equation with boundary conditions on T.
