The Interaction of High-Speed Turbulence with Flames: Global Properties and Internal Flame Structure [PDF]

open access: yesCombustion and Flame, 157, 5 (2010), pp. 995-1011, 2011
We study the dynamics and properties of a turbulent flame, formed in the presence of subsonic, high-speed, homogeneous, isotropic Kolmogorov-type turbulence in an unconfined system. Direct numerical simulations are performed with Athena-RFX, a massively parallel, fully compressible, high-order, dimensionally unsplit, reactive-flow code.

Triple flame structure and diffusion flame stabilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The stabilization of diffusion ñames is studied using asymptotic techniques and numerical tools. The configuration studied corresponda to parallel streams of cold oxidizer and fuel initially separated by a splitter píate.

Influence of DC Electric Field on the Propane-Air Diffusion Flames and NOx Formation

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
The aim of this research is to investigate the effects of a direct current (DC) electric field on the combustion behavior of a co-flow propane diffusion flame. The flame length and NOx emission were observed and measured.

Numerical Investigation of the Effects of Diffusion Time on the Mechanisms of Transition from a Turbulent Jet Flame to Detonation in a H2-Air Mixture

open access: yesFire, 2023
The current study primarily aimed to simulate detonation initiation via turbulent jet flame acceleration in partial-premixed H2-air mixtures. Different vertical concentration gradients were generated by varying the duration of hydrogen injection ...

Large Eddy Simulation of a Premixed Bunsen flame using a modified Thickened-Flame model at two Reynolds number [PDF]

open access: yesCombustion Science and Technology, 2009, 2021
A modified Thickened Flame (TF) model based on Large Eddy Simulation methodology is used to investigate premixed combustion and the model predictions are evaluated by comparing with the piloted premixed stoichiometric methane-air flame data (Chen et al., 1996) for Reynolds numbers Re = 24,000 (flame F3) and Re=52,000 (flame F1).

An experimental study of the detailed flame transport in a SI engine using simultaneous dual-plane OH-LIF and stereoscopic PIV [PDF]

open access: yesCombustion and Flame 202 16-32 2019, 2020
Understanding the detailed flame transport in IC engines is important to predict ignition, rate of heat release and assess engine performance. This is particularly important for RANS and LES engine simulations, which often struggle to accurately predict flame propagation and heat release without first adjusting model parameters.

Study on flame stability and flame height in oxygen-enriched ammonia/N2/O2 laminar diffusion flame

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
Ammonia is regarded as one of the alternative fuels because the physical properties of Ammonia are suitable for transportation and storage as a “hydrogen carrier”.

Effect of Equivalence Ratio on Flame Morphology, Thermal and Emissions Characteristics of Inverse Diffusion Porous Burner [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The diffusion porous media combustion is one possible way to eliminate the drawbacks of the existing combustion systems. Inverse diffusion flame (IDF) has features of both premixed and non-premixed flames.
