Analysis of Reaction-Diffusion Systems for Flame Capturing in Type Ia Supernova Simulations [PDF]
We present a study of numerical behavior of a thickened flame used in Flame Capturing (FC, Khokhlov (1995)) for tracking thin unresolved physical flames in deflagration simulations. We develop a steady-state procedure for calibrating the flame model used, and test it against analytical results.

Scaling, Propagation, and Kinetic Roughening of Flame Fronts in Random Media [PDF]
We introduce a model of two coupled reaction-diffusion equations to describe the dynamics and propagation of flame fronts in random media. The model incorporates heat diffusion, its dissipation, and its production through coupling to the background ...

Combustion characteristics of an annular type meso-scale combustor
This study was conducted to develop a meso-scale annular type combustor that uses two types of coaxial cylindrical flames, rich premixed flame and diffusion flame.

Soot formation and radiation in turbulent jet diffusion flames under normal and reduced gravity conditions [PDF]
Most practical combustion processes, as well as fires and explosions, exhibit some characteristics of turbulent diffusion flames. For hydrocarbon fuels, the presence of soot particles significantly increases the level of radiative heat transfer from ...

Heat conduction controlled combustion for scramjet applications [PDF]
The use of heat conduction flame generated in a premixed supersonic stream is discussed. It is shown that the flame is controlled initially by heat conduction and then by chemical reaction.

Fundamental approach to laminar flame propagation [PDF]
The complete system of equations for a theory of laminar flame equations is presented, taking into account both heat conduction and diffusion, for the case of an arbitrary number of simultaneous reactions.

Investigations of the Effects of Flame Configuration on the Combustion of Laminar Diffusion Flame [PDF]
Motivation and objective to study double inverse diffusion flame is introduced, followed by the literature survey on soot formation in inverse diffusion flame (IDF), application of the unique structure of double inverse diffusion flame (DIDF), radiation ...

Analysis of opposed jet hydrogen-air counter flow diffusion flame [PDF]
A computational simulation of the opposed-jet diffusion flame is performed to study its structure and extinction limits. The present analysis concentrates on the nitrogen-diluted hydrogen-air diffusion flame, which provides the basic information for many
