Gliomas: Diffusion Kurtosis MR Imaging in Grading
Radiology, 2012To assess the diagnostic accuracy of diffusion kurtosis magnetic resonance imaging parameters in grading gliomas. The institutional review board approved this prospective study, and informed consent was obtained from all patients. Diffusion parameters-mean diffusivity (MD), fractional anisotropy (FA), mean kurtosis, and radial and axial kurtosis-were ...

Diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) is a recent imaging method that probes the diffusion of water molecules. Whereas diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) models the diffusion as a 3D Gaussian function, DKI takes it one step further by additionally quantifying the degree of non-Gaussian diffusion.

Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging as a Tool in Neurotoxicology
Neurotoxicity Research, 2019This commentary serves as an introduction to the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique called diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) employed in the study by Arab et al. in the present issue of Neurotoxicology Research. In their study, DKI is employed for longitudinal investigation of a methamphetamine intoxication model of Parkinson's disease.

Optimized workflow for diffusion kurtosis imaging of newborns
2011 IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: From Nano to Macro, 2011Diffusional kurtosis imaging (DKI) is a recently proposed extension of the conventional DTI model. It has been shown to offer more sensitive characterization of neural tissues than DTI. So far, DKI has only been applied to adult human and small animal studies, but not yet to human newborns.

Diffusion kurtosis imaging of the human kidney: A feasibility study
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2014To assess the feasibility and to optimize imaging parameters of diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) in human kidneys. The kidneys of ten healthy volunteers were examined on a clinical 3T MR scanner. For DKI, respiratory triggered EPI sequences were acquired in the coronal plane (3 b-values: 0, 300, 600s/mm(2), 30 diffusion directions).

Simulation Study of Kurtosis Measurements in MR Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging
2010Monte Carlo simulation was performed in 1D space to study the spin diffusion, kurtosis characteristics, spin dephasing and MR signal attenuation in compartment-restricted diffusion environment. The apparent kurtosis was computed based on DKI formulation and compared to the true kurtosis and calculated from the actual diffusion displacement profiles ...
