A new inverse problem for the diffusion operator
The inverse nodal problem is studied for the boundary value problem \[ y''+(\lambda^2+\lambda p(x)+q(x))y=0,\quad x\in (0,\pi), \] \[ y'(0)-hy(0)=y'(\pi)+Hy(\pi)=0. \] It is proved that the specification of any dense set of nodal points uniquely determines \(q(x)-\int_0^1 q(t)\,dt\) provided that \(p(x)\) is known a priori.

Nonlinear operators for error diffusion
Journal of Electronic Imaging, 1997The error diffusion halftoning method preserves details well, but produces some unwanted regular texture patterns. The purpose of this paper is to introduce certain nonlinear operators with small kernels for the error diffusion to reduce the regular patterns. The goal is to suppress pattern artifacts while maintaining a small neighborhood.

The origins and diffusion of operational research in the UK
Journal of the Operational Research Society, 1998Summary: This paper analyses the origins and diffusion of operational research in the UK from the end of the Second World War to 1970. After acknowledging ORs military origins, the paper discusses the process of diffusion into the civilian sector. In this context, the critical role fulfilled by OR groups in the coal and iron and steel industries is ...

Telegraph-Diffusion Operator for Image Enhancement
2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007Image denoising and enhancement problems have many physical analogues that highlight new approaches to novel solutions. One such solution, based on viewing the image as elastic sheet, is presented. A processing scheme for grayscale images is outlined and further considered in the context of color images.

Operative laparoscopy in The Netherlands: Diffusion and acceptance
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, 2007To evaluate and update the current status of the implementation of operative laparoscopy in gynaecology in The Netherlands by assessing diffusion and acceptance of each specific procedure per hospital. In 2003 a questionnaire was sent to all hospitals (n = 102), which addressed the total number and type of laparoscopic procedures performed in 2002 ...

The Diffusion Absorption Refrigerator Operation and Performance
2015This chapter focuses on the Diffusion Absorption Refrigerator (DAR) cycle and describes a new advanced thermodynamic model which allows good predictions of the chiller performance in terms of efficiency and cooling capacity, starting from a precise evaluation of the thermo-physical properties of the working mixture at each point of the circuit.

On the diffusion operator of the multivariate master equation
Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1977Abstract The eigenfunctions of the diffusion operator of the multivariate master equation, describing reaction diffusion systems, are calculated for various boundary conditions. This serves as a starting point for a systematic study of the general solution of the master equation.
