Characterization of the Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Pleurogenoides japonicus (Digenea, Pleurogenidae): Comparison With the Members of Microphalloidea and Phylogenetic Implications. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We determined the complete mitochondrial genome of Pleurogenoides japonicus, being the first described of the family Pleurogenidae. The gene arrangement types of Xiphidiata trematodes are diverse, and the gene arrangement events mainly occurred in “trnE‐trnG” and “trnG‐trnE”.

Digenean trematodes (Trematoda: Digenea) parasitizing the digestive system of the great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) in Hungary [PDF]

open access: yesHelminthologia
Great cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo) are widespread piscivorous birds, which cause huge economic losses in the fish fauna worldwide. As a consequence of their predatory behaviour, they serve as definitive hosts for many digenean trematodes, and their ...

Diversity of digeneans parasitizing Mullus barbatus and Mullus surmuletus (Teleostean, Mullidae) off the coast of Algerian [PDF]

open access: yesHelminthologia, 2023
Mullus barbatus and Mullus surmuletus (Perciformes, Mullidae) are a common marine teleost of great commercial importance in many coastal areas. We studied the communities of Digenea species in two congeneric Mullidae hosts collected on the Algerian coast

Digenea community structure of the Salema, Sarpa salpa (Linnaeus, 1758) (Teleostei, Sparidae), from the Central coast of Algeria [PDF]

open access: yesHelminthologia
The main goal of the current work was to describe and analyse the Digenean community structure in Sarpa salpa. A total of 114 specimens of S. salpa were collected from the Central Coast of Algeria at six localities.

First Report of Aphanurus stossichii (Digenea: Hemiuridae) from Engraulis encrasicolus on the Turkish Coast of the Black Sea, with Light and Scanning Electron Microscopic Observations

open access: yesTürkiye Parazitoloji Dergisi, 2023
Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate in detail the morphological features of the digenean parasite Aphanurus stossichii isolated from the European anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus using light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Checklist of digeneans (Platyhelminthes, Trematoda, Digenea) of Georgia

open access: yesBiodiversity Data Journal, 2023
In the present study, we aim to provide an inventory of digenetic trematodes (Platyhelminthes, Trematoda, Digenea) from Georgia including possibly all records available from the freshwater, marine and terrestrial realms. The checklist is based on a critical review of data from 109 papers, 11 monographs and four Ph.D.

Fish morphological and parasitological traits as ecological indicators of habitat quality in a Mediterranean coastal lagoon

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 33, Issue 11, Page 1229-1244, November 2023., 2023
Abstract Coastal lagoons are key ‘transitional’ aquatic environments for biodiversity conservation. Ecological indicators are useful tools for the management of water resources in the European Union. Among different biological communities, fish are a very sensitive tool to assess environmental integrity.
