The E3 ubiquitin ligase, RNF219, suppresses CNOT6L expression to exhibit antiproliferative activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified RNF219 as a CCR4‐NOT complex‐interacting E3 ubiquitin ligase that targets the CCR4‐NOT subunit CNOT6L for ubiquitination. RNF219 directly binds to the DUF3819 domain of CNOT1 through its putative α‐helix spanning amino acids 521–542. Our findings also suggest that antiproliferative activity of RNF219 is at least partially mediated by ...

The Role of Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 in Common Diseases of the Digestive Tract and the Cardiovascular and Respiratory System

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1 (TRPV1), a member of the transient receptor potential vanilloid (TRPV) channel family, is a nonselective cation channel that is widely expressed in sensory nerve fibers and nonneuronal cells, including ...

Characterization of WAC interactions with R2TP and TTT chaperone complexes linking glucose and glutamine availability to mTORC1 activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TTT and R2TP chaperone complexes are required for the assembly and activation of mTORC1. WAC directly interacts with components of TTT, R2TP, and mTORC1, and these interactions are affected by the availability of glucose and glutamine, correlating with changes in mTORC1 activity.

Most autophagic cell death studies lack evidence of causality

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Of 104 studies claiming autophagic cell death (ACD), only 13 demonstrated both causality and exclusion of apoptosis to confirm true ACD. Most studies relied on correlation‐level data or measured autophagy in isolation, revealing pervasive methodological shortcomings.

Investigation of porcine circovirus type 2 and porcine circovirus type 3 infections based on dual TaqMan fluorescent quantitative PCR method and genetic evolutionary analysis of these two viruses

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
IntroductionPorcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the pathogen of Porcine Circovirus Associated Diseases. Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) is a novel porcine circovirus associated with porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS) and reproductive ...

Electrical pulse stimulation reflecting the episodic nature of real‐life exercise modulates metabolic and secretory profile of primary human myotubes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Here, we introduced an intermittent electrical stimulation protocol mimicking the episodic nature of real‐life exercise in vitro by alternating low‐ and high‐frequency stimulation. In comparison with widely used continuous stimulation, it enhanced the rate of glucose and fatty acid oxidation, but not the myokine release.

Establishment and optimization of the two‐step induction system for generating primordial germ cell‐like cells from chicken embryonic stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study optimizes a two‐step induction system to generate PGCLCs from chicken ESCs. The induced cells express germline markers and migrate to gonads in ovo, offering a novel approach for avian genetic resource conservation. Primordial germ cells (PGCs) are the progenitor cells of sperm and eggs.
