Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

All About Audio Equalization: Solutions and Frontiers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2016
Audio equalization is a vast and active research area. The extent of research means that one often cannot identify the preferred technique for a particular problem.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

A Non-Adaptive Single-Phase PLL Based on Discrete Half-Band Filtering to Suppress Severe Frequency Disturbances

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The interconnection of new generating and storing devices to the power grid imposes the necessity of synchronizing, so the power flow can be manipulated and distributed.

Optimal design of linear phase FIR digital filters with very flat passbands and equiripple stopbands [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A new technique is presented for the design of digital FIR filters, with a prescribed degree of flatness in the passband, and a prescribed (equiripple) attenuation in the stopband.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Realisation techniques for primitive operator infinite impulse response digital filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
This paper presents realisation techniques for IIR digital filters based on the primitive operator graph synthesis method. The approach exploits the redundancy present in the filter multiplier structure when the coefficients are invariant allowing ...
