Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.

Digital Humanities

open access: yes, 2014
International audience; We must keep in mind some numerical data when we evoke the transition from the paper to the digital age. In particular, the following contrast speaksfor itself:1. All the books ever written represent 50 billion bytes.2. The information produced in 2006 represents 150 quintillion (150 x 1018) bytes.

Dosimetric effect of silicone‐based gel on skin surface during volumetric modulated arc therapy for breast cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aims to quantify and compare the dosimetric effects of varying thicknesses of StrataXRT, a silicone‐based gel, and other topical agents on the skin surface during volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for breast cancer.

Engineering Digital Systems for Humanity: Challenges and Opportunities [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
As testified by new regulations like the European AI act, the worries about the societal impact of (autonomous) software technologies are becoming of public concern. Social and human values, besides the traditional software behaviour and quality, are increasingly recognized as important for sustainability and long-term well-being.

Facilitating 1.5T MR‐Linac adoption: Workflow strategies and practical tips

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background MR‐guided radiotherapy (MRgRT) offers new opportunities but also introduces workflow complexities requiring dedicated optimization. Implementing magnetic resonance linear accelerator (MR‐Linac) technology comes with challenges such as prolonged treatment times and workflow integration issues.
