Aspects of Parameter Identification for a Micromorphic Continuum applied to a Cold‐Box Sand

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This work is concerned with the modeling of a cold‐box sand, a composition of sand grains and a resin binder. To this end, experiments are performed, which show the following characteristics: localization phenomena in the form of a shear band, softening behavior in the force‐displacement curve, and asymmetric behavior for compression and ...

Advance in Structural Battery Technology: Integrating Lithium Titanate to Overcome Limitation of Graphite in Carbon Fabric Composite Structural Batteries

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 9, Page 8022-8034, 10 May 2026.
Schematic of manufacturing carbon fabric composite structural batteries. ABSTRACT Structural batteries based on woven carbon fabrics are typically established on lithium ion phosphate (LFP) and graphite. While this method proved viable from the manufacturing perspective, the resulting structural batteries exhibited suboptimal electrochemical ...

Medida de la deformación empleando la metodología óptica Digital Image Correlation (DIC)

open access: yes, 2022
ABSTRACT: The DIC (Digital Image Correlation) methodology consists of the evaluation of the deformation of a material or components without contact through the analysis of images of its surface in a measure that is modified by the effect of an external action. The method involves the continuous recording of images during the deformation process.

Failure Mechanisms of Short Fiber Reinforced Composite Materials Subjected to Dynamic Loading

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 9, Page 8273-8287, 10 May 2026.
Failure Mechanisms of Short Fiber Reinforced Composite Materials Subjected to Dynamic Loading. ABSTRACT The mechanical behavior of short carbon fiber reinforced polylactic acid (SCF/PLA) composites fabricated by fused deposition modeling (FDM) is crucial for engineering applications, yet their strain‐rate dependence is not fully understood.

Cluster‐Mediated Solute Stabilization and Shear‐Bypass Synergistic Strengthening in High‐Alloyed Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
This study demonstrates that in high‐alloy systems, nanoclusters with high solute tolerance can effectively suppress compositional segregation. This mitigation leads to a concurrent 18.7% increase in strength and 41.5% improvement in ductility, which is attributed to a shear‐bypass synergistic strengthening mechanism. The findings provide a new pathway

Differences in Perspectives and Policies Regarding End‐of‐Life Care Between Hematologists and Gastroenterologists

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with hematologic malignancies often receive aggressive treatment until the terminal phase and transition to end‐of‐life (EOL) care less frequently than those with solid tumors. A 2015 survey compared hematologists' and solid tumor‐oncologists' attitudes toward EOL care, revealing differences.

Low‐Cost Friction‐Based Force‐Limiting Connection With Reduced Sensitivity to Machining Tolerances and Accelerated Repairability

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1270-1291, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a novel yet practical friction‐based structural component design for low‐damage earthquake‐resistant structures. The proposed connection design is based on a conventional slotted‐bolted configuration with the novelty being the use of loose steel washer plates to establish the friction‐sliding interface.

Deep Proteomic Profiles of the Antarctic Diatom Fragilariopsis Cylindrus Under Varying Iron and Manganese Conditions

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, Volume 26, Issue 5, Page 112-119, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Fragilariopsis cylindrus is a key diatom in the Southern Ocean, where low iron and manganese availability constrain primary production and biogeochemical activity. The molecular mechanisms used by polar diatoms, including F. cylindrus, to cope with trace metal limitations remain largely unexplored.

High‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior and Deformation Mechanisms of Al0.5CoCrFeNi High‐Entropy Alloy by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) can fabricate high‐entropy alloys (HEAs) with refined microstructure and enhanced mechanical properties. However, the deformation and fatigue mechanisms of Al‐containing HEAs produced by LPBF remain unclear. In this work, we systematically investigate the tensile properties, deformation mechanisms, and high‐cycle
