Digital Image Processing for SNDICE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We shall report here the methods developped for the analysis of diffractive ring features in Megacam images produced by SNDICE light source in a position fixed relatively to the telescope.

Aberrant expression of nuclear prothymosin α contributes to epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Expression and purification of E140 protein antigen fragments of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium berghei for serological assays

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 5, Page 690-698, May 2025.
We provide a step‐by‐step guide for producing E140 antigen fragments from Plasmodium berghei (Pb1) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv1). Pb1/Pv1 are expressed in E. coli, solubilized by freeze–thawing, refolded by slow dilution, purified by affinity chromatography (IMAC), then concentrated and subjected to quality control.

Comparison between low-cost passive and active vision for obstacle depth

open access: yesRCT: Revista de Ciência e Tecnologia, 2020
Obstacle detection is a key issue in many current applications, especially in applications that have been increasingly highlighted such as: advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and autonomous navigation ...

Using the medical image processing package, ImageJ, for astronomy [PDF]

open access: yesJ.Roy.Astron.Soc.Canada100:242-248,2006, 2006
At the most fundamental level, all digital images are just large arrays of numbers that can easily be manipulated by computer software. Specialized digital imaging software packages often use routines common to many different applications and fields of study.

Autonomous monitoring of cliff nesting seabirds using computer vision [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper we describe a proposed system for automatic visual monitoring of seabird populations. Image sequences of cliff face nesting sites are captured using time-lapse digital photography.

CD44v, S1PR1, HER3, MET and cancer‐associated amino acid transporters are promising targets for the pancreatic cancers characterized using mAb

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 5, Page 867-884, May 2025.
Novel mAbs could detect cancer‐associated membrane proteins on various type of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) by flow cytometry with viable PDAC cells and by immunohistochemistry with PDAC tissues. Results of protein expression were substantiated by mRNA expression by The Cancer Genome Atlas.

Separating Overlapping Tissue Layers from Microscopy Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Manual preparation of tissue slices for microscopy imaging can introduce tissue tears and overlaps. Typically, further digital processing algorithms such as registration and 3D reconstruction from tissue image stacks cannot handle images with tissue tear/overlap artifacts, and so such images are usually discarded.

Digital mammography, cancer screening: Factors important for image compression [PDF]

open access: yes
The use of digital mammography for breast cancer screening poses several novel problems such as development of digital sensors, computer assisted diagnosis (CAD) methods for image noise suppression, enhancement, and pattern recognition, compression ...

Pharmacological effects of osimertinib on a chicken chorioallantoic membrane xenograft model with the EGFR exon‐19‐deleted advanced NSCLC mutation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 5, Page 836-855, May 2025.
Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...
