Bandlimited Digital Predistortion for High Throughput Satellites

2021 IEEE 4th 5G World Forum (5GWF), 2021
Due to the recent developments In on-board processors (OBPs), adaptive digital predistortion (DPD) can be directly applied on-board the satellite to mitigate the non-linear distortions introduced by the payload’s high power amplifiers (HPAs) and IMUX/OMUX filters.

Digital predistortion with low-precision ADCs

2017 51st Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2017
Digital Predistortion (DPD) is a popular technique for linearizing a power amplifier (PA) to help reduce the spurious emissions and spectral regrowth. DPD requires the learning of the inverse PA nonlinearities by training on the output of the PA. In practical systems, the analog output of the PA will have to go through an analog-to-digital converter ...

A novel predistorter model for digital predistortion of RF power amplifiers

The 2012 International Workshop on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Circuits and System Technology, 2012
Power amplifiers (PAs) are inherently nonlinear devices and are used in virtually all kinds of communication systems. Whereas, digital predistortion (DPD) is one of the cost-effective ways to improve the linearization performance of PAs. In this paper, a novel perdistorter model, which is used in digital predistortion of RF power amplifiers and based ...

Digital memory-based predistortion

IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005., 2005
A predistortion algorithm based on a memory-based power amplifier model (PA) is presented. The algorithm was tested using a PA measurement system. The predistortion techniques are based on the filtered tapped delay line (TDL) model. Memoryless predistortion techniques are also presented to show the benefits of the memory-based predistortion approach ...

An adaptive algorithm for digital predistortion

2006 10th IEEE Singapore International Conference on Communication Systems, 2006
This article presents an adaptive digital predistortion (DPD) for linearizing RF power amplifiers (PA). The idea is to use nonlinear curve-fitting in conjunction with the look-up table to adaptively pre-adjust the gain and the phase of the input data before it is fed to the amplifier. The performance of the algorithm is tested by simulation.

Digital Predistortion for Spectrum Compliance in the Internet of Things

Journal of Electronic Testing, 2018
Many different wireless personal communication technologies including Bluetooth, ZigBee, Wi-Fi, even LTE-M, can connect Internet of Things (IoT) products, such as personal electronics or industrial machine sensors. However, the nonlinearity and linear distortion produced by RF power amplifiers (PAs) will degrade the quality of transmitted signals.

Direct Digital Predistortion on a Computer Controlled FPGA

2007 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing - ICASSP '07, 2007
We report on the development of direct digital radio frequency predistortion techniques for high power amplifiers and their demonstration in a MF band FPGA-based system. The basic component of our work is a nonlinear cubic voltage characteristic which is realized digitally by means of a look-up table.

Baseband Digital Predistorter with Quadrature Error Correction

Analog Integrated Circuits and Signal Processing, 2005
In this paper simulation and measurement results of a FPGA implementation of a baseband digital complex gain predistorter with a quadrature modulator error correction algorithm are presented. In the measurements a 40 dB three stage power ampli er chain with an analog quadrature modulator and demodulator was used as the device to be predistorted.

Research on digital predistortion based on adaptive algorithms

Mathematical Structures in Computer Science, 2014
In wireless broadband communication systems, the inherent non-linearity of power amplifiers creates spectral growth beyond the signal bandwidth, which interferes with adjacent channels. It also causes distortions within the signal bandwidth. In this paper, we study five digital predistortion algorithms for linearising two different non-linear memory ...

A subsampled adaptive subband digital predistortion algorithm

2014 IEEE 12th International New Circuits and Systems Conference (NEWCAS), 2014
To reduce energy consumption of transmission sys-tems, the power amplifier in transceiver systems is a key element to be improved. The energy consumption associated with this component represents a major part of the total consumption of transmission systems. Moreover it plays an essential role in the quality of the transmitted signals.
