An application of a digital predistortion linearizer to CDMA HPA's

IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2004. GLOBECOM '04., 2005
The high power amplifier (HPA) is a key part of the transmit chain, but inherently nonlinear. Nonlinearity of the HPA causes intermodulation distortion (IMD). In order to compensate for the IMD, linearization techniques are required. Digital predistortion is one such technique.

Streamlined MIMO cross-over digital predistortion

2014 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS), 2014
This paper proposes a simplified algorithm for linearizing MIMO nonlinear systems. The linearization technique is designed for MIMO systems with nonlinear cross-talk. The new algorithm relies on estimating the coupling factor and building the 2×2 DPD based on two 1×1 DPDs. The algorithm is around two times faster than the conventional method whilst the

A Hybrid Domain Framework for Predistorter Modeling and Adaptive Digital Predistortion Realization

2020 China Semiconductor Technology International Conference (CSTIC), 2020
In this paper, we propose a hybrid domain framework to model the predistorter (PD) of a power amplifier (PA). It is available for obtaining the PD not only through a PA model but also a PA circuit on ADS. Simulation results show that with predistortion, the NMSE of the linearity can reach -50 dB and the ACPR can reduce around 17dB.

Optimization of Digital Predistortion with Memory

2018Systems of Signal Synchronization, Generating and Processing in Telecommunications (SYNCHROINFO), 2018
In this paper identification of the digital predistortion (DPD) operator for power amplifier (PA) linearization is considered. Improving the identification performance generally amounts to finding the appropriate reduced-complexity parametrized model of memory nonlinearity and to avoid ill-conditionality of the corresponding LS problem.

Fractional delay compensation in digital predistortion system

2012 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2012
Delay mismatch between the input and output signals of power amplifiers (PAs) may lead to an erroneous assumption of memory effects. In adaptive digital predistortion (DPD) system, the delay mismatch affects the accuracy of coefficients estimation and degrades performance of the DPD system.

Digital predistortion of concurrent multiband communication systems

2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014
In this semi-tutorial paper, we derive the general form of a predistorter for a concurrent multiband system. Further, we derive complexity-reduced forms, and we compare the resulting algorithms with previously proposed algorithms in the literature.

An Optimization Platform for Digital Predistortion of Power Amplifiers

IEEE Design & Test, 2016
The article introduces an integrated hardware/software codesign and test platform for the digital predistortion and power amplifier blocks of radiofrequency transceivers. The platform allows evaluation and optimization of system performance with minimum computational resources, contributing to higher design flexibility.

Reduced-complexity digital predistortion for massive MIMO

2017 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2017
A novel reduced-complexity digital predistortion (DPD) solution is presented in this paper. The proposed DPD can suppress the unwanted distortions due to power amplifier (PA) nonlinearity and I/Q modulator impairments in direct conversion transmitters using reduced-bandwidth filtered basis functions.

Design and implementation of digital predistorter with orthonormal polynomials

2013 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2013
In many predistorter designs, polynomial model was used to describe the nonlinearity of power amplifiers (PAs). However, numerical instability can occur during model coefficients estimation. Orthogonal polynomial models presented in [1] [2] can help to alleviate the numerical instability problem in fixed-point implementation.

A digital hardware platform for RF PA digital predistortion algorithms

2016 9th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, BioMedical Engineering and Informatics (CISP-BMEI), 2016
Digital pre-distortion technique is one of the most crucial techniques used to solve frequency distortion in wireless communication links, which is due to nonlinear behavior of devices like power amplifier and limits frequency bandwidth of signal. This paper introduces a multi-function digital platform employed to verify and test different digital pre ...
