Improvement of the oral bioavailability of digitalis glycosides by cyclodextrin complexation.
Journal of Pharmacy and Science, 1983Inclusion complexes of the digitalis glycosides digitoxin, digoxin, and methyl digoxin with three cyclodextrins (alpha-, beta-, gamma-homologues) in water and in the solid state were studied by a solubility method, IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray ...

Interference of uzara glycosides in assays of digitalis glycosides
Int. Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2004Presentation of a case report and pharmacokinetic investigation in healthy volunteers on the potential interference between cardiac glycosides and glycosides of Uzara, a herbal antidiarrheal preparation.Pharmacokinetic pilot investigation of apparent digitoxin and digoxin serum concentrations in 4 healthy volunteers after single-dose administration of ...

Drug Interactions with Digitalis Glycosides
Drugs, 1978The 2 major factors affecting serum levels of the most commonly used cardiac glycoside digoxin, are patient compliance and the physical characteristics of the tablet; the latter is unimportant with the lipid soluble glycosides digitoxin and β-methyldigoxin.

Enzymatic Decomposition of Digitalis Glycosides IV
Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1959Using paper chromatographic methods the glycosidic constituents of freshly gathered leaves of Digitalis lanata have been examined before and after exposure to a limited period of enzymatic action. It appears that the original plant does not contain desglucoglycosides in quantities detectable by very sensitive methods, but that after exposure to ...

Determination of the Purity of Digitalis Glycosides
Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1954A procedure is given for determining the amount of impurities resent in digitalis glycosides and some of their preparations based on the fluorescence produced with a solution of propylene glycol and hydrochloric acid.

Cardiotoxicity of digitalis glycosides: roles of autonomic pathways, autacoids and ion channels.
Autonomic & Autacoid Pharmacology, 20051 Cardiac glycosides have been used for centuries as therapeutic agents for the treatment of heart diseases. In patients with heart failure, digoxin and the other glycosides exert their positive inotropic effect by inhibiting Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase, thereby ...

Assay of digitalis glycosides in man
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1966Abstract The administration of digitalis glycosides is followed by a consistent and dose-dependent abbreviation of the duration of left ventricular ejection in normal individuals. The changes in left ventricular ejection time determined from the indirect carotid arterial tracing and corrected for heart rate (ejection time index) offer an easily ...

Use Of Radioimmunoassay Of Digitalis Glycosides In Man
Acta Clinica Belgica, 1976SummaryAssay of digitalis glycosides in man can now be done easily. In what circumstances is such a measurement meaningful?First of all, assay methods have allowed studies that have furthered our knowledge about digitalis and its use. These methods have drawn attention to the problem of bioavailability of digoxin : differences between different oral ...

Radioimmunoassay of Digoxigenin Glycosides in Digitalis lanata
Planta Medica, 1981Radioimmunoassay (RIA) has been used in the analysis of digoxigenin glycoside contents of crude ethanolic extracts prepared from fresh leaf samples of Digitalis lanata Ehrh. The commercial antidigoxin antiserum used in the assay was highly specific against the digoxigenin aglycone.
