A digital controlled oscillator based on controlled phase shifting

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, 1989
A new architecture for a digitally controlled oscillator is presented. It is based on a controlled phase shifting principle and shows phase and frequency characteristics comparable to those of simple accumulator-type rate-multiplier-based circuits. An important feature of the proposed configuration is the possibility of a high clock frequency, also ...

A 0.3V, 35% Tuning-Range, 60kHz 1/f3-Corner Digitally Controlled Oscillator with Vertically Integrated Switched Capacitor Banks Achieving FoMT of -199dB in 28-nm CMOS

IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference, 2019
We present a sub-mW ultra-low-voltage (ULV) digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) in which all electronic devices (amplifying transistors and switched-capacitor banks) are vertically embedded within the inductor coils.

An improved numerically controlled digital oscillator

2003 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM 2003) (Cat. No.03CH37490), 2004
Adding a small lookup table (LUT) to adjust the feedback in a second-order numerically controlled digital oscillator (NCDO) eliminates all of the stability problems created by roundoff error in digital oscillators. The new NCDO uses less hardware than any of the three major competing approaches: (1) sinusoidal look up table, (2) digital oscillators ...

Ultralow Power, 3.15 mW, 76.7 GHz Digitally Controlled Oscillator in 65 nm CMOS for High Data-Rate Application

European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference, 2019
This paper presents an ultralow power 1-bit digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) for the application in high data-rate FSK transmitters. To design a low-power DCO, minimising the loss of the LC tank is very critical.

Digitally controlled current-mode quadrature oscillator

2017 International Semiconductor Conference (CAS), 2017
A digitally controlled current-mode quadrature oscillator (DCC-MQO) is proposed. The circuit consist of four cascaded log-domain first order low-pass filter and a digitally programmable current division network. The lossy log-domain integrator gain and time constant can be adjusted using the bias currents of the logarithmic and exponential building ...

A wide-band digitally controlled ring oscillator

Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2010
This paper presents an analysis and design of a digitally controlled ring oscillator with a new band-extension technique to achieve wide-band operation. The proposed technique is based on inclusion of an LC tank to boost the frequency range. Two frequency sub-ranges are covered with the tank on and off respectively, and they jointly constitute a very ...

Digital voltage-controlled blocking oscillator

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1973
A digital voltage-controlled blocking oscillator is presented, which can generate a number of pulses during a period of blocking oscillation. The number of pulses can be changed due to supply voltage.

Improved numerically-controlled digital sinusoidal oscillator

The 2002 45th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002. MWSCAS-2002., 2003
The design of a digital sinusoidal oscillator with finite word length having excellent capability to reduce DC drift, frequency and amplitude drifts is proposed. The design utilizes the fundamental properties of a simple second order difference equation.

A Dual-Band CMOS Standing-Wave Digitally Controlled Oscillator for Automotive Radars

Intelligent Memory Systems, 2019
The 22/75-GHz dual-band digitally controlled oscillator based on standing-wave topology is proposed. By properly choosing the capacitance and respective transmission line length, the high- and low-band frequency ratio could exceed 3 in millimeter-wave ...

A low power digital controlled oscillator

International Journal of Electronics, 2001
A simple CMOS digital controlled oscillator (DCO) is developed for digital phaselock-loop and digital communication applications. The new DCO has a very simple structure with high linearity and resolution. For example, a four-bit DCO requires only fifteen MOS transistors. The new DCO has a tuning range from 15 MHz to 29 MHz.
