The complete chloroplast genome of Digitaria sanguinalis (Graminales: Gramineae). [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA B Resour, 2022
Digitaria sanguinalis (Linnaeus) Scopoli 1722 is an annual herbal plant that has important medicinal and ecological value. The chloroplast genome was 138,079 bp in length. In total, 129 genes were predicted, including 82 protein-coding genes, 39 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The overall AT content of the genome was 61.39%.

ALS gene overexpression and enhanced metabolism conferring Digitaria sanguinalis resistance to nicosulfuron in China. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Plant Sci, 2023
Crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis) is a common malignant weed in corn fields in China. Recently, the acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor, nicosulfuron, has shown decreasing efficacy against crabgrass. In order to elucidate the molecular basis of resistance to nicosulfuron in crabgrass, we conducted bioassays, combined with gene sequence analysis ...

Mesocotyl elongation in Digitaria sanguinalis during seedling development [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Biosystems - An International Journal Dealing with all Aspects of Plant Biology, 2015
The mesocotyl is an embryonic organ present in Poaceae that plays an important role in seedling emergence. The elongation of this first internode contributes decisively to the coleoptile reaching the soil surface. This study examines the process of mesocotyl elongation under controlled conditions in three caryopsis collection sites of Digitaria ...

Assessing the Transferability of Species Distribution Models: A Cross-Continental Evaluation. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
This study confirms that the conventional approach, namely using random holdout test datasets and the AUC, fails to reliably assess model transferability. Instead, using spatially independent test datasets and the RWIP provides a more robust evaluation approach.

Fendioxypyracil, a new and systemic PPO-inhibiting herbicide for X-spectrum weed control. [PDF]

open access: yesPest Manag Sci
This graphical abstract presents the discovery and synthesis of PPO herbicide structures with a central pyridine core, showing molecular conformations, dose–response inhibition curves for PPO1 and PPO2, and comparative weed and grass control efficacy of fendioxypyracil versus other herbicides in greenhouse and field trials.

Transcriptome Analysis Reveals the Response Mechanism of Digitaria sanguinalis, Arabidopsis thaliana and Poa annua under 4,8-Dihydroxy-1-tetralone Treatment. [PDF]

open access: yesPlants (Basel), 2023
4,8-dihydroxy-l-tetralone (4,8-DHT) is an allelochemical isolated from the outer bark of Carya cathayensis that acts as a plant growth inhibitor. In order to explore the mechanism of 4,8-DHT inhibiting weed activity, we treated three species of Digitaria

A Geminivirus, Serologically Related to Maize Streak Virus, from Digitaria sanguinalis from Vanuatu

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1986
SUMMARY Electron microscopy of purified particles of a virus found in Dig#aria sanguinalis from Vanuatu (formerly New Hebrides) indicated that it is a geminivirus. Preparations of virus particles contained one coat protein of tool. wt. about 27 500 and circular and linear single-stranded DNA about 2350 nucleotides in length.
