Plant functional diversity does not dilute virus infection, but community virus prevalence positively correlates with net C3 grass production

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study examines if plant functional diversity dilutes plant virus prevalence in grass hosts and evaluates how virus prevalence influences net community and host production. Functional diversity did not mitigate or amplify virus prevalence. While we found that species relationships between virus prevalence and production varied, overall, virus ...

Chemical Characterization and Allelopathic Effects of Ambrosia psilostachya (Asteraceae)

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Ambrosia spp. have been introduced and distributed across different continents as an invasive alien plant species. The present study aimed to identify the chemical components of essential oil isolated from different parts of Ambrosia psilostachya and evaluate the phytotoxic effect of its aqueous extracts on the growth parameters of Phaseolus ...

Integrating early spring‐planted barley or oat for Palmer amaranth management in soybean

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 66, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Fall‐planted cover crops (CCs) are widely used for weed suppression, but CC establishment challenges after fall harvest in temperate regions necessitate alternative approaches. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the integrated effect of spring‐planted barley or oat CC and herbicide programs for CC biomass production, Palmer amaranth

Ecological studies on the crabgrass, Digitaria sanguinalis SCPLI on the upland field.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 1951
1. In this ecological studies, the close relations among the crabgrass and several crops were observed in the upland field. 2. Branched ears of the crabgrass (dominant species) were correlated to numbers of its seed. 3. Falled seeds of this weed were found 218.2 in ten square centimeters after the sweet-potatoes were harvested.

First Report of Anthracnose of Digitaria sanguinalis Caused by Colletotrichum hanaui in China

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2010
Hairy crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop.) is a troublesome weed in most agricultural crops worldwide. Considerable efforts are made to limit the invasiveness and impact of crabgrass on crop productivity, including evaluation of fungi as biocontrol agents (3).
