Adaptation Of The Variable Neighborhood Search Heuristic To Solve The Vehicle Routing Problem

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Industri, 2012
The vehicle routing problem is investigated by using some adaptations of the variable neighborhood search (VNS). The initial solution was obtained by Dijkstra’s algorithm based on cost network constructed by the sweep algorithm and the 2-opt.

How Context Shapes Person‐Centred Fundamental Care Through Nurse–Patient Relationships: Validation of the FoC Intelligence Modelling Tool and Predictive Pathway Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The Fundamentals of Care (FoC) Framework emphasises that care quality depends not only on clinical tasks but also on interpersonal relationships and the organisational context in which care is delivered. Although patient‐reported outcome and experience measures (PROMs and PREMs) have gained relevance in capturing these aspects ...

Children's Foreign Word Recognition at First Exposure: The Role of Phonological Similarity and Utterance Position

open access: yesLanguage Learning, EarlyView.
Abstract The current study examined how children apply their phonological knowledge to recognize translation equivalents in a foreign language. Target words for recognition were either phonologically similar (cognate) or dissimilar (noncognate) to words they already knew in their first language.

Increased arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal biomass and diversity in soil under long‐term climate drying and warming

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) support critical ecosystem services including plant resource acquisition and productivity. AMF functional traits such as relative biomass investment in root vs soil colonization or drought tolerance are thought to be evolutionarily conserved within AMF lineages and might influence AMF community responses to ...

An Improved Route-Finding Algorithm Using Ubiquitous Ontology-Based Experiences Modeling

open access: yesComplexity, 2019
Every day, people are hired in different organizations and old and retiring employees are eliminated from enterprise systems. Eliminating these individuals from organizations leads to the loss of their spatial experiences.

Drawing Animals in the Paleolithic: The Effect of Perspective and Abbreviation on Animal Recognition and Aesthetic Appreciation

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The majority of Pleistocene figurative cave art in Western Europe consists of line drawings depicting large herbivores from the side view, and outlines were sometimes abbreviated to the head‐neck‐dorsal line. It is often assumed that the side view was used because it facilitates animal recognition compared to other views, and that abbreviated ...

Smart selective navigator (SSN): enhancing urban winter road maintenance through optimized arc routing with hard turn restrictions

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 3580-3597, September 2026.
Abstract This paper introduces a novel heuristic method, the smart selective navigator (SSN), for addressing arc routing problems (ARPs) with a focus on integrating hard turn restrictions in urban winter operations. Addressing a significant gap in existing ARP methodologies, SSN seamlessly incorporates common side constraints, such as vehicle ...

Integrated routing of heavy electrical and diesel trucks in forest transports

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 3088-3109, September 2026.
Abstract Fossil‐free forestry transports are important to reach climate goals. In Sweden, road transports account for around 50% of the industry's CO2 emissions and almost 20% of the road freight volumes. Previous studies have shown that electrification is a cost‐effective way for carbon abatement, while at the same time the requirements for ...
