Effect of hot air and freeze drying on the volatile compounds of dill (Anethum graveolens L.) herb

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 1985
Volatile compounds of fresh, hot air dried and freeze dried dill (Anethum graveolens L.) herb were studied by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Of the 25 volatile components identified, 16 the most abundant compounds were analysed quantitatively. The

Seven days of warm‐water immersion enhances resting irisin and BDNF, but not klotho, in older men

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract We examined whether seven consecutive days of warm‐water immersion could elevate resting and exercise‐induced levels of brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), irisin and klotho in older adults. These biomarkers support cognitive and metabolic health, but their levels decline with age.

Amacrine cell inputs to OFF midget ganglion cells in macaque retina

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The goal of this study was to explain the findings from physiological studies that OFF midget ganglion cells had larger receptive field centers than expected from their dendritic field diameters. First, we confirmed that OFF mRGCs (OFF MGC) receive input from diffuse bipolar cells (DB) as well as OFF midget bipolar cells (FMB ...

From Monolingualism to Plurilingualism: Multimodal Arts‐Based Cultural Probes as Catalysts for Linguistic Justice in an Afterschool Literacy Program

open access: yesThe Reading Teacher, Volume 79, Issue 6, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Afterschool programs in Anglophone Canada often reinforce monolingual English norms, marginalizing multilingual students' linguistic and cultural resources. In a research project conducted over three 16‐week cycles at two schools, we selected relevant books and actively engaged parents and students with multimodal, arts‐based cultural probes ...

Phenotypic Plasticity Across Gradients of Predation and Competition in Larval Amphibians

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Many taxa encounter a wide range of conditions for any particular environmental variable and they experience variation in multiple environmental variables simultaneously, which may have interactive effects if different environmental types induce opposing phenotypes.
