Povidon-iodine (betadine) in modern obstetric-gynecological practice

open access: yesРепродуктивная эндокринология, 2018
The article describes the pharmacocodynamics of povidone-iodine, the release form under the brand name Betadine, pharmacological benefits, as well as evidence of its effectiveness in preventing infection in the field of surgical intervention.

The Dilution Effect in High-Power Disk Laser Welding the Steel Plate Using a Nickel-Based Filler Wire

open access: yesMetals, 2021
High-power disk laser welding a steel plate using the Inconel 82 (IN82) filler wire with a 1.2 and 3.0 m/min feeding rate has been investigated in the experiment.

THE BACTERIOLOGICAL DILUTION SCALE AND THE DILUTION AS A BACTERIOLOGICAL UNIT [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Public Health, 1919
Practical pollution-meter provided. Why not express results directly in terms of bacteriological findings? Simplest of scales has mathematical as well as technical advantages. A long step towards solving some of the annoying troubles of bacteriological computation.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Engineering At-Home Dilution and Filtration Methods to Enable Paper-Based Colorimetric Biosensing in Human Blood with Cell-Free Protein Synthesis

open access: yesBiosensors, 2023
Diagnostic blood tests can guide the administration of healthcare to save and improve lives. Most clinical biosensing blood tests require a trained technician and specialized equipment to process samples and interpret results, which greatly limits test ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Competition explains limited attention and perceptual resources: implications for perceptual load and dilution theories

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2013
Both perceptual load theory and dilution theory purport to explain when and why task-irrelevant information, or so-called distractors are processed. Central to both explanations is the notion of limited resources, although the theories differ in the ...

Simplified Modelling of Inclined Turbulent Dense Jets

open access: yesFluids, 2020
An analytical approximation to the entire centerline trajectory of inclined round dense jets in dimensionless form is proposed, in terms of a fourth degree polynomial.

Resource Recovery and the Sherwood Plot

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
Our work analyzes the biophysical and economic foundations of the Sherwood Plot (SP). In general, the SP depicts the theoretical relationship between the cost of recovering a target material or an identified Value Added Compound (VAC) from a waste matrix

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
