Analysis of Dimethylpolysiloxane in Tofu by FTIR

open access: yesFood Hygiene and Safety Science (Shokuhin Eiseigaku Zasshi), 1997
A simple and rapid determination method was developed for dimethylpolysiloxane (DMPS) in Tofu by FTIR. DMPS was extracted from Tofu with diethyl ether. The extract was cleaned up with a charcoal-alumina-celite column. The eluate was evaporated, and the residue was dissolved in 1mL of n-hexane.

Determination of Dimethylpolysiloxane in Instant Coffee

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1977
Abstract A method is described for determining dimethylpolysiloxane in instant coffee. The siloxane is extracted with chloroform in a Soxhlet apparatus and then converted to silica which is estimated by a heteropoly blue method. The method is interference-free, and 5 μg dimethylpolysiloxane can be easily detected.

Proteomics of Nitrotyrosine: Integrating Mass Spectrometry and Immunodetection in Redox‐Driven Pathology

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nitrooxidative stress, driven by excess reactive nitrogen species like peroxynitrite, contributes to the pathogenesis of many chronic diseases. Among its molecular footprints, 3‐nitrotyrosine (3NT) has emerged as a biologically relevant marker of protein nitration.

Droplet size spectrum, velocity, angle and flow rate of pulse‐width‐modulated spray nozzles with adjuvants

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Optimizing PWM performance requires not only appropriate duty cycle selection, but also careful choice of adjuvant formulation tailored to each nozzle type. Drift control agents increased droplet size and reduced fine droplets, mitigating PWM‐induced variability. Decreasing the duty cycle consistently narrowed the spray angle.

Atmospheric Deposition of Organic Pollutants: A Comprehensive Review of Sampling and Analytical Methodologies

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Atmospheric deposition of organic pollutants plays a crucial role in the transport and fate of contaminants in the environment, with implications for ecosystem health and human exposure. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and microplastics are increasingly recognized as transboundary threats due to ...

Effectiveness of dimethylpolysiloxane during deep frying

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, 2004
AbstractIn the last decades, silicones and particularly dimethylpolysiloxane (DMPS) added to oils and fats at very low concentrations (1–5 mg/kg) have been widely applied as inhibitors of thermoxidative reactions in deep frying. In this review, information available on the mechanisms of DMPS action during the frying process is summarised.

Gas Chromatography‐Based Methods for Profiling Volatile Off‐Aroma Compounds in Grain Legumes: A Review

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Instrumental characterisation of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs), responsible for off‐aroma, is mainly centred on gas chromatography‐based techniques. Despite previous reviews that have addressed the chemical compounds and biosynthetic pathways of off‐aroma generation, to date, there is a lack of a comprehensive review that critically ...

Mechanistic Review of Topical Therapies Targeting Dermal Fibroblasts in Skin Aging and Rejuvenation

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Skin aging appears in multiple forms, including wrinkles, sagging, scarring, atrophy, and photoaging. Although each phenotype has distinct biological features, all are rooted in dermal fibroblast dysfunction. This review examines the molecular pathways underlying these conditions and evaluates topical interventions designed to ...
