Prevention and Treatment of Swine Dysentery with Dimetridazole
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1973SUMMARY Dimetridazole given at dose levels of 0.01, 0.015, and 0.02% of the ration was effective in preventing the appearance of signs of dysentery in 52 of 52 pigs in 3 titration experiments. In 2 titration experiments (No. 4 and 5) with pigs having clinical signs of dysentery, 5 days' treatment with dimetridazole in the drinking water at dose levels ...

The polarographic determination of dimetridazole in animal feeding stuffs
The Analyst, 1967It has been found that the reduction wave associated with dimetridazole in saturated borax solution is enhanced by copper, and that this enhancement is dependent upon the amount of copper in solution. A method is described in which this effect is eliminated.

Residues of dimetridazole in eggs after treatment of laying hens
Veterinary Research Communications, 1996Laying hens were dosed orally with dimetridazole (DMZ) (50 and 250 mg/kg) for 3 days or intramuscularly (50 mg/kg), also for 3 days, and the residues were determined by liquid chromatography in albumen and yolk. The sensitivity of the whole procedure was 2 ng/g.

Dimetridazole : Absorption, Excretion and Metabolism in Turkeys
Nature, 1963HISTOMOUSTIASIS in turkeys (turkey blackhead) is caused by the protozoan flagellate Histomonas meleagridis and it can be controlled effectively with dimetridazole (1,2-di-methyl-5-nitroimidazole) given orally1,2.

Liquid Chromatographic Determination of Dimetridazole and Ronidazole in Feeds
Journal of Liquid Chromatography, 1991Abstract A simple high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) procedure for the simultaneous determination of dimetridazole and ronidazole in turkey feeds is described. The drugs are extracted from feeds by carbon-tetrachloride/dimethylformamide (80:20) at 60°C during 30 mn and the extract is subjected to a partition by water.

Sensitivity in vitro to dimetridazole of treponemes associated with swine dysentery
Veterinary Record, 1979The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of dimetridazole (DMZ) against Treponema hyodysenteriae (55 isolates) obtained over the period 1974-77 from individual pigs with swine dysentery from 41 herds where DMZ had been in use was determined. The MIC was less than or equal to 5.0 microgram per ml for 54 of the isolates and differences in the ...
