Tissue concentration of dimetridazole in laying hens

Food Additives and Contaminants, 1996
After laying hens had been dosed orally with dimetridazole (DMZ) for 3 days (50 and 250 mg/kg body weight (b.w.)) or intramuscularly, also for 3 days (50 mg/kg b.w.), the residues were determined in serum, liver, breast and thigh muscle by liquid chromatography. The limit of determination was 0.01 micrograms/g.

Dimetridazole

British Poultry Science, 1968
Synopsis The effect on the growth of healthy turkey poults of the antiprotozoal drug dimetridazole has been examined. It has been shown to exert a favourable effect on live‐weight when administered in the food at levels of 0.0125 and 0.025 Per cent for periods of 12 and 18 weeks.

Toxicity of Dimetridazole in Waterfowl

Avian Diseases, 1984
Dimetridazole at a concentration of 1.0 g/l in drinking water caused mortality in both ducklings and goslings. When given to goslings at a concentration of 0.5 g/l, the drug caused growth depression and nervous signs characterized by excess activity, abnormal head attitudes, and ataxia.

Biotransformation of Dimetridazole by Primary Cultures of Pig Hepatocytes

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1997
Monolayer cultures of pig hepatocytes were used to investigate the role of the liver in the biotransformation of the veterinary drug dimetridazole (1,2-dimethyl-5-nitroimidazole). 14C-Labeled dimetridazole (DMZ) was primarily hydroxylated to 1-methyl-2-hydroxymethyl-5-nitroimidazole (up to 90%) and to a minor extent N-demethylated to 2-methyl-(4,5 ...
