A determination key for modern dinoflagellate cysts
Palynology, 2015The first online modern organic-walled dinoflagellate cyst determination key has been launched at www.marum.de/dinocystkey.html. This key is based on easily recognisable morphological features of dinoflagellate cysts that can be observed using standard transmitted light microscopy.

Paleogene dinoflagellate cysts from Punta Prat, southern Chile
Palynology, 2009Abstract Paleogene dinoflagellate cysts were recorded from the Chorrillo Chico and Agua Fresca formations at Punta Prat, southern Chile. Due to the presence of Palaeoperidinium pyrophorum, the Chorrillo Chico Formation is no younger than Late Selandian.

Dinoflagellate cysts from Recent Danish marine sediments
European Journal of Phycology, 1994Twenty-three different cyst types were found in a survey of dinoflagellate resting stages (cysts) in sediment samples from two sites in Danish waters: Oresund (The Sound) and Aarhus Bay. This is the first survey of its kind from Danish waters. The cyst types found were: Diplopsalis lenticula, Gymnodinium catenatum, Polykrikos schwartzii, Scrippsiella ...

Paleogene dinoflagellate cyst biostratigraphy of northern Japan
Micropaleontology, 2004This study establishes for the first time in Japan a Paleogene dinoflagellate cyst biostratigraphic zonation, which enables dating and correlation of Paleogene shallow marine sediments in the northwestern Pacific where other marine planktonic microfossils are extremely rare.

Dinoflagellate cyst terminology: a discussion and proposals
Canadian Journal of Botany, 1982This paper constitutes an attempt to stabilize and expand the descriptive terminology applied to dinoflagellate cysts. The "para" terminology of Evitt et al. (1977, Geol. Surv. Pap. Geol. Surv. Can. 76) is critically reviewed; use of the terms "paraplate," "parasuture," "paratabulation" is endorsed, but the terms "paracingulum" and "parasulcus" and ...

Dinoflagellate cyst distribution around the British Isles
Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 1972Rich assemblages of acid-resistant microfossils occur in intertidal sediment from the British Isles and are here reported, for the first time, to contain large numbers of dino-flagellate cysts. These cysts provide evidence to show that the distribution of certain dino-flagellate cysts is different from that of the motile stage, that the coastal ...
