Alexandrite Lasers: Review of recent laser progress and developments for vegetation lidar [PDF]
A review is made of recent progress in diode-pumped Alexandrite lasers as a high-power, tunable- wavelength source, and our advances in developing Alexandrite as a short-pulse, high-pulse-rate vegetation lidar source for satellite-based Earth Observation.

Continuous-wave Raman laser pumped within a semiconductor disk laser cavity [PDF]
A KGd(WO4)(2) Raman laser was pumped within the cavity of a cw diode-pumped InGaAs semiconductor disk laser (SDL). The Raman laser threshold was reached for 5: 6W of absorbed diode pump power, and output power up to 0.8W at 1143nm, with optical ...

Medium-power diode-pumped Nd:BaY2F8 laser
We report what is to our knowledge the first Nd:BaY2F8 (Nd:BaYF) laser pumped with a multiwatt fiber-coupled diode array tuned at approximately 804 nm. As much as 2.4 W were obtained with 6.2 W of absorbed pump power, showing efficient operation (51% slope efficiency), excellent beam quality (M2=1.1), and weak thermal lensing. Small intracavity losses (

Transient Analysis of Pump-induced Lensing Effects in Alexandrite Lasers Using Pump-Probe Technique [PDF]
A novel transient pump-probe method is used to differentiate thermal and population pump-induced lensing mechanisms. In diode-pumped Alexandrite lasers, excellent agreement is found between theory and experiment and the population lens is found to be ...

Optimizing type-I polarization-entangled photons [PDF]
Optical quantum information processing needs ultra-bright sources of entangled photons, especially from synchronizable femtosecond lasers and low-cost cw-diode lasers.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Rubidium resonant squeezed light from a diode-pumped optical-parametric oscillator
We demonstrate a diode-laser-pumped system for generation of quadrature squeezing and polarization squeezing. Due to their excess phase noise, diode lasers are challenging to use in phase-sensitive quantum optics experiments such as quadrature squeezing.

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.
