Effect of Pump Beam Shape on Thermal and Stress Distribution within the Laser Crystal in Diode Pumped Solid-State Lasers

open access: yesSyrian Journal for Science and Innovation
Thermal effects formed in a solid-state laser crystal, which cause the appearance of thermal lensing، mechanical stress and birefringence, lead to laser beam distortion and shorten the lifetime of laser crystal، and hinder getting a high-quality laser ...

5 kW Near-Diffraction-Limited and 8 kW High-Brightness Monolithic Continuous Wave Fiber Lasers Directly Pumped by Laser Diodes

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
Tandem pumping technique are traditionally adopted to develop >3-kW continuous-wave (cw) Yb3+-doped fiber lasers, which are usually pumped by other fiber lasers at shorter wavelengths (1018 nm e.g.,).

Bio‐Orthogonally Crosslinked Supramolecular Polymer Bottlebrush Hydrogels for Long‐Term 3D Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

Investigation on efficiency declines due to spectral overlap between LDAs pump and laser medium in high power double face pumped slab laser

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
In high power diode lasers, the input cooling water temperature would affect both output power and output spectrum. In double face pumped slab laser, the spectrum of two laser diode arrays (LDAs) must be optimized for efficiency reason.

Orange emission in Pr3+-doped fluoroindate glasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We synthesize and study the properties of praseodymium doped fluoroindate glasses. Glass compositions with praseodymium molar concentrations up to 5% were obtained with good optical quality. Thermal, optical, and luminescence properties are investigated.

Quasi‐Static to Supersonic Energy Absorption of Nanoarchitected Tubulanes and Schwarzites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoarchitected energy‐absorptive Tubulanes exhibit record energy absorption under quasi‐static conditions and exceptional inelastic energy dissipation under 750 m s−1 ballistics impact, with high performance spanning strain rates of 12 orders of magnitude.

Uncovering the Origin of Efficiency Roll‐Off in TADF OLEDs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
OLEDs based on thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) materials often suffer from a severe drop in efficiency at high brightness levels. This work presents a technique to uncover the source of this efficiency drop, and quantifies the exciton‐exciton and exciton‐polaron annihilation processes responsible for efficiency losses in our TADF OLEDs ...

InGaN-LD-Pumped ${\rm Pr}^{3+}$: ${\rm LiYF}_{4}$ Continuous-Wave Laser at 915 nm

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2014
We demonstrate the first InGaN-LD-pumped room temperature and continuous-wave laser operation of a Pr3+: LiYF4 crystal at 915 nm. A maximum output power up to 78 mW with a laser slope efficiency of about 17% is obtained. The round-trip optical losses are

Eye-Safe Solid-State Quasi-CW Raman Laser with Millisecond Pulse Duration

open access: yes, 2012
We demonstrate the first quasi-CW (ms-long pulses, pump duty cycle of 10%) end-diode pumped solid state laser generating eye-safe radiation via intracavity Raman conversion. The output power at the first Stokes wavelength (1524 nm) was 250 mW.

Operation of an optical in-well-pumped vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We report the operation of an optical in-well-pumped vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser. The laser delivers 1 W at 855 nm and is pumped with a cost-effective fiber-coupled laser diode emitting at 806 nm.
