Toward Nonepitaxial Laser Diodes

Chemical Reviews, 2023
Thin-film organic, colloidal quantum dot, and metal halide perovskite semiconductors are all being pursued in the quest for a wavelength-tunable diode laser technology that does not require epitaxial growth on a traditional semiconductor substrate. Despite promising demonstrations of efficient light-emitting diodes and low-threshold optically pumped ...

Diode laser trabeculoplasty

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Ophthalmology, 1991
AbstractDiode laser is a solid state Gallium Aluminium Arsenide (Ga AIAs) laser with a wavelength of approximately 800 nm (near infrared radiation). It has a similar penetration to, and absorption within the ocular tissues as, Krypton red. Diode laser trabeculoplasty (DLT) was carried out on 20 glaucomatous eyes resulting in a mean fall in intraocular ...

Semiconductor Diode Laser Endophotocoagulation

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1989
ABSTRACT We successfully used a semiconductor diode laser to deliver endophotocoagulation burns to the retina of a rabbit. The diode laser employed emits light at a wavelength of 817 nm (near infrared). It has a power output of up to 1.0 W in the continuous-wave mode, equivalent to the capability of current argon laser endophotocoagulators. A

Laser-diode holographic recording

Optics Letters, 1986
We report the recording of optical holograms in both holographic plate films and thermoplastic film using a commercial single-mode laser diode having a wavelength of 787.3 nm. Holographic film characteristics and laser-diode coherence length studies as well as experimental results with simple plane-wave holograms are discussed.

Laser-based foilless diode

Physical Review Letters, 1987
A foilless diode usually requires an externally applied magnetic field to control expansion and transport of a relativistic electron beam. A new foilless diode has been developed that does not require an external magnetic field. A low pressure organic gas is introduced into the diode and the transport region.

Diode lasers in ophthalmology

International Ophthalmology, 1994
Compact laser emitting diodes of gallium-aluminium-arsenide are now available for incorporation into clinical lasers in ophthalmology. These lasers are cheap and have low running costs. They are portable and their wavelength of emission (810 nm) may be advantageous in certain clinical situations.

Diode Laser and Fractional Laser Innovations

Facial Plastic Surgery, 2019
AbstractLaser technology continues to increase in popularity and expand treatment options for patients with common but challenging skin conditions including facial telangiectasias, facial aging, striae distensae, and acne scars. Facial telangiectasias have been estimated to occur in tens of millions of people worldwide.

High Power Laser Diodes

2006 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2004
The 20-year-evolution of high-power laser diodes with a multitude of device designs that explore various practical applications is presented. The four major applications for high-power diode lasers, namely pumps for EDFAs, YAG rods, disk lasers and fiber lasers have a tremendous impact on the selection process in this evolution.

Directly diode-laser-pumped Ti:sapphire laser

Optics Letters, 2009
A directly diode-laser-pumped Ti:Al(2)O(3) laser is demonstrated. Using a 1 W, 452 nm GaN diode laser, 19 mW of cw output power is achieved in a potentially portable format. Pumping at this short wavelength induces a loss at the laser wavelength that is not seen for the more typical green pump wavelengths. This effect is characterized and discussed.
