The “Troglopagurus Group” of Diogenes (Decapoda: Anomura: Paguroidea: Diogenidae) Revisited [PDF]
Abstract Ambiguity in the purported diagnostic attributes utilized to identify species of the poorly known “Troglopagurus group” of the hermit crab genus Diogenes prompted a review and critical reassessment of the morphological characters used to differentiate the nine recorded taxa.

We analyzed 190 specimens of the common European hermit crab species Pagurus bernhardus to look for the heterometry between the sexes regardless of the body size. We calculated three different indices and found all to be significantly different between males and females, indicating that males have bigger major and minor chelipeds than females, even if ...

Shell Utilization Pattern of the Hermit Crab Calcinus Tibicen (Diogenidae) from Southern Brazil [PDF]
The purpose of this study was to determine the shell utilization pattern of Calcinus tibicen using the percentage of the different shell types that were occupied, the morphometric relationship between hermit crabs and occupied shells, as well as shell availability based on the empty shells and living gastropods observed. Specimens were collected at two-
