Untargeted Metabolomics Identifies N‐Lactoyl‐Amino Acids as Dose‐Responsive Plasma Biomarkers of Metformin Adherence in Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 119, Issue 4, Page 1057-1069, April 2026.
Metformin is the most widely prescribed antidiabetic drug, yet adherence remains difficult to objectively assess. Using untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics, we analyzed plasma from 637 patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) with confirmed metformin use and 143 nondiabetic controls, annotating 614 metabolites.

Unveiling the Role of Rumen Microbiome in Modulating Intramuscular Fat Deposition of Pingliang Red Cattle

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study revealed that rumen microbiota significantly influence IMF deposition in Pingliang Red cattle through taxonomic and functional mechanisms. Limosilactobacillus panis and Fibrobacter succinogenes were identified as potential biomarkers for high IMF content.

Physiology of digestion in fishes and shellfishes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Some fish feed on plants, some on animals and a third group derives ijs protein, carbohydrate, fats, vijamins and minerals from both plant and animal sources. Some fishes live on blood and tissue fluid of other fishes (eg. Petromyzon). Some fishes feed

Structure and activity of ChiX, a peptidoglycan hydrolase required for chitinase secretion by Serratia marcescens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Gram‐negative bacterium Serratia marcescens secretes a number of proteins that are involved in extracellular chitin degradation. This so‐called chitinolytic machinery includes three types of chitinase enzymes and a lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase.

Spatially Characterized Aortic Proteome Reveals Novel Regional Signatures and Glucocorticoid Receptor/Dipeptidase 1 Axis in Diabetic Vasculopathy

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study presents the first spatially resolved proteomic map of diabetic vasculopathy, identifying distinct molecular signatures in aortic regions. The glucocorticoid receptor/dipeptidase 1 (GR/DPEP1) axis was identified as a novel driver of diabetic vascular inflammation and dysfunction.

Effects of Probiotic Supplementation on Symptoms and Microbiome Characteristics in Patients With Non‐Celiac Gluten/Wheat Sensitivity: A Randomized Controlled Double‐Blind Trial

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
This randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial demonstrated that probiotic supplementation in individuals with non‐celiac gluten/wheat sensitivity improved tolerance to gluten reintroduction in nearly half of participants. The effect was associated with beneficial shifts in gut microbiome composition and function, including enhanced microbial ...

A study of aminopeptidases from lactic streptococci : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Two arninopeptidase enzymes from the proteolytic system of Streptococcus lactis 4760 have been studied. An X-Prolyl dipeptidyl arninopeptidase has been purified and characterised.
