A new ring microstrip diplexer

An original structure, a method and results of computer-aided synthesis of a new ring microstrip diplexer are considered. These diplexers for matched loads give ideal decoupling between sources and practically pure resistive inputs over the whole frequency band.

A relatively simple form of microwave frequency diplexer consists of a waveguide E- or H-plane Y-junction terminated with baudpass filters in each of the two output ports. The E- or H-plane bifurcation, or zero-degree Y-junction, allows a compact diplexer design as shown in Fig. 1.

The diplexer unit (10) is located at the focal point of the satellite dish and handles the transmission of signals between an emitter and a receiver (7). The unit has a pair of coaxial waveguides (11,13) configured as a coaxial cable. A strip conductor (40) is used to decouple the second signal from the second waveguide.
