Phenotypic Variation in Infectivity of Diplostomum spathaceum Cercariae Within a Population
Journal of Parasitology, 2007The present study examined phenotypic variation in infectivity of Diplostomum spathaceum (Trematoda) cercariae within a natural population. Twelve infected Lymnaea stagnalis were collected from the field, and the infectivity of cercariae from individual snails was assessed under constant laboratory conditions. At a water temperature of 16.3 C, the mean

A protein with lectin activity in penetration glands of Diplostomum pseudospathaceum cercariae
International Journal for Parasitology, 2001Homogenates of Diplostomum pseudospathaceum cercariae agglutinated mouse erythrocytes. The haemagglutination could be inhibited by certain glycoconjugates containing beta-1,3- and beta-1,4-glycan chains and also by some simple saccharides. The most potent inhibitors were heparin and some other glycosaminoglycans, bacterial lipopolysaccharides ...

Penetration and Migration Success of Diplostomum spp. Cercariae in Arctic Charr
Journal of Parasitology, 2010We exposed 2 groups of young-of-the-year Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) singly to 54 +/- 2 (mean +/- SE) Diplostomum spp. cercariae that had emerged from 4 randomly sampled snail hosts (Lymnaea stagnalis). The rearing tanks of the fish received Diplostomum spp.

Diplostomum spathaceum metacercarial infection and colour change in salmonid fish
Parasitology Research, 2004Colour changes in two salmonid fish, the salmon (Salmo salar) and sea trout (S. trutta), were examined in relation to infection with the trematode Diplostomum spathaceum. This parasite had no effect on the rate of colour change in these fish, although species specific differences in colour adjustment times were observed.

Migration of Diplostomum spathaceum (trematoda) in the fish intermediate host
Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde, 1974The migratory route of Diplostomum spathaceum to the eye lens of the fish host was determined by examining fishes killed at various times after infection in the laboratory by immersion in water containing cercariae. Migration occurred mostly in subcutaneous connective tissue and muscles of the trunk.

Reizphysiologische Untersuchungen an Cercarien von Diplostomum spathaceum
Zeitschrift fr Vergleichende Physiologie, 19691.
