Dipole–Dipole Interactions in Microtubules [PDF]
Dimers in microtubules possess a dipole moment with components along three axes. The interaction energy among all dipole components in a microtubule was calculated for an un-deformed and an elliptically deformed microtubule in a "dry" condition. The interaction energy was found to increase with deformation.

Dipole-dipole instability of atom clouds in a far-detuned optical dipole trap [PDF]
The effect of the dipole-dipole interaction on the far-off-resonance optical dipole trapping scheme is calculated by a mean-field approach. The trapping laser field polarizes the atoms and the accompanying dipole-dipole energy shift deepens the ...

All organic multiferroic magnetoelectric complexes with strong interfacial spin-dipole interaction
The organic magnetoelectric complexes are beneficial for the development on flexible magnetoelectric devices in the future. In this work, we fabricated all organic multiferroic ferromagnetic/ferroelectric complexes to study magnetoelectric coupling at ...

Direct measurements of the colloidal Debye force
Colloids often behave in a manner similar to their counterparts in molecular space and are used as model systems to understand molecular behavior. Here, we study like-charged colloidal attractions between a permanent dipole on an interfacial particle and

Coherent manipulation of two dipole—dipole interacting ions [PDF]
We investigate to what extent two trapped ions can be manipulated coherently when their coupling is mediated by a dipole-dipole interaction. We will show how the resulting level shift induced by this interaction can be used to create entanglement, while the decay of the states remains nearly negligible.

Dipole–dipole interactions in optical lattices do not follow an inverse cube power law
We study the effective dipole–dipole interactions in ultracold quantum gases on optical lattices as a function of asymmetry in confinement along the principal axes of the lattice.

Resonant dipole–dipole interaction in confined and strong-coupling dielectric geometries
Using the electromagnetic response function of an electric dipole located within a dielectric geometry, we derive the mathematical equivalence between the classical response and quantum mechanical resonant dipole–dipole interaction between two quantum ...

The interaction of dipole modifiers with polyene-sterol complexes. [PDF]
Recently, we showed that the effect of dipole modifiers (flavonoids and styrylpyridinium dyes) on the conductance of single amphotericin B (AmB) channels in sterol-containing lipid bilayers primarily resulted from changes in the membrane dipole potential.
