A master equation for strongly interacting dipoles

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We consider a pair of dipoles such as Rydberg atoms for which direct electrostatic dipole–dipole interactions may be significantly larger than the coupling to transverse radiation.

Isoscalar dipole response of heavy nuclei in low-energy region within kinetic model [PDF]

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2020
The isoscalar dipole response of heavy spherical nuclei in the low-energy region is studied by using a semiclassical model, based on the solution of the linearized Vlasov kinetic equation for finite Fermi systems. In this translation-invariant model, the

A Time-Splitting and Sine Spectral Method for Dynamics of Dipolar Bose-Einstein Condensate

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2013
A two-component Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) described by two coupled a three-dimension Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equations is considered, where one equation has dipole-dipole interaction while the other one has only the usual s-wave contact interaction,

Intermolecular Interactions: Dipole–Dipole, Dipole–Induced Dipole, and London Dispersion Forces [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Education, 2009
This Mathcad document introduces students to simple potential functions, which allows them to compare and contrast various intermolecular interactions. In particular, dipole–dipole interactions, dipole–induced dipole interactions, and London dispersion interactions are explored.

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

Quantum discord in spin systems with dipole–dipole interaction [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum Information Processing, 2013
The behavior of total purely quantum correlation (discord) in dimers consisting of dipolar-coupled spins 1/2 is studied. We found that the discord Q=0 at the absolute zero temperature. With increasing the temperature $T$, at first the quantum correlations in the system increase, smoothly reach the maximum, and then turn again into zero according to the

Quantifying the Impact of Ocrelizumab on Paramagnetic Rim Lesions in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paramagnetic rim lesions (PRLs) are a subset of chronic active multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions marked by iron‐laden microglia and macrophages. Ocrelizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting CD20+ B cells, suppresses acute MS activity, but its effect on PRLs remains unclear. In a longitudinal study of 29 ocrelizumab‐treated patients with at least

Investigation of magnetic dipole-dipole interaction using magnetic density on solid oxygen based on first-principles approach

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
We have developed the computational method to estimate magnetic dipole-dipole interaction energy including magnetic spin density on three-dimensional materials, in the framework of density functional theory.

Coherent manipulation of two dipole—dipole interacting ions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Modern Optics, 2000
We investigate to what extent two trapped ions can be manipulated coherently when their coupling is mediated by a dipole-dipole interaction. We will show how the resulting level shift induced by this interaction can be used to create entanglement, while the decay of the states remains nearly negligible.

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control
