The impact of direct air capture during the last two decades: A bibliometric analysis of the scientific research Part II

open access: yesSustainable Chemistry for Climate Action, 2023
This bibliometric analysis is a following part that aims to expand the information from our previous study. Direct Air Capture (DAC) technologies are not progressing as fast as expected and time is limited.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Development of amine modified K2CO3/Al2O3 solid sorbent with exhaustion indicator for direct air capture of CO2

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
Air quality has a significant impact on the health of the people especially inside buildings that use closed air conditioning systems. When the indoor air quality level is below the standard but the people are unable to detect and continue to work in ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Contributions of CO2, O2 and H2O to the Oxidative Stability of Solid Amine Direct Air Capture Sorbents at Intermediate Temperature

open access: yes, 2023
Aminopolymer-based sorbents are preferred materials for extraction of CO2 from ambient air (direct air capture of CO2, or DAC) owing to their high CO2 adsorption capacity and selectivity at ultra dilute conditions.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

LCCO2 Assessment and Fertilizer Production from Absorbed-CO2 Solid Matter in a Small-Scale DACCU Plant

open access: yesEnergies
This study investigates a novel method of utilizing Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology for fertilizer production. Unlike traditional Direct Air Carbon Capture and Utilization (DACCU) technologies, Direct Air Carbon Capture for Fertilizers (FDAC) has the

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Merging Climate Action with Energy Security through CCS—A Multi-Disciplinary Framework for Assessment

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Combining biomass-fired power generation with CO2 capture and storage leads to so-called negative CO2 emissions. Negative CO2 emissions can already be obtained when coal is co-fired with biomass in a power plant with CCS technology.
