AbstractDespite the increasing incidence of heart failure, advancements in mechanical circulatory support have become minimal. A new type of mechanical circulatory support, direct cardiac compression, is a novel support paradigm that involves a soft deformable cup around the ventricles, compressing it during systole.

A New Method of Producing Monoclinic Paracetamol Suitable for Direct Compression
Pharmaceutical Research, 2011To develop a technique of obtaining monoclinic polymorph of paracetamol suitable for direct compression without excipients.Preparation of spongy monoclinic paracetamol was based on quench-cooling of paracetamol solutions in water-acetone mixtures sprayed into a vessel with liquid nitrogen followed by removal of solvents by freeze-drying.

Schedule compression using the direct stiffness method
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1993This paper presents a new method for critical path (CPM) scheduling that optimizes project duration in order to minimize the project total cost. In addition, the method could be used to produce constrained schedules that accommodate contractual completion dates of projects and their milestones.

A Symmetric Direct Discontinuous Galerkin Method for the Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations
Communications in Computational Physics, 2017Summary: In this work, we investigate the numerical approximation of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations under the framework of discontinuous Galerkin methods. For discretization of the viscous and heat fluxes, we extend and apply the symmetric direct discontinuous Galerkin (SDDG) method which is originally introduced for scalar diffusion problems.

Direction-of-arrival estimation based on modified Bayesian compressive sensing method
2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2011In this paper, the narrowband DOA estimation problem is studied in compressive sensing (CS) perspective. A novel DOA estimation approach based on extended Bayesian compressive sensing (BCS) is presented. To avoid the matrix singular drawback in BCS, a basis pruning procedure through iterative hard thresholding is utilized.

Frame based signal compression using method of optimal directions (MOD)
ISCAS'99. Proceedings of the 1999 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems VLSI (Cat. No.99CH36349), 2003The method of optimal directions (MOD) is an iterative method for designing frames for sparse representation purposes using a training set. In this paper we use frames designed by MOD in a multiframe compression (MFC) scheme. Both the MOD and the MFC need a vector selection algorithm, and orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) is used in this paper.

Direct Compression — Novel Method for Encapsulation of Probiotic Cells
2004Probiotics may be defined as a mono or mixed culture of live microorganisms that applied to man or animal affects beneficially the host by improving the properties of the indigenous microflora [1]. They confer many healthy benefits upon consumption such as suppressing the growth of pathogens, reducing the risk of cancer formation and reducing the serum
