Effects of Carbon Nanoparticles on Triboelectro‐Induced Surface Defects
Carbon nanoparticles added to grease modify the electrocontact behavior. The synergy of particle concentration and electric current dominates the surface damage of metals in contact. Electrical surface damage caused by current leakage is a critical challenge in high‐performance applications such as electric vehicle (EV) drivetrains and wind turbine ...

Growth and electronic structure of graphene on semiconducting Ge(110)
The direct growth of graphene on semiconducting or insulating substrates might help to overcome main drawbacks of metal-based synthesis, like metal-atom contaminations of graphene, transfer issues, etc.

This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Deposition of ZnO Thin Films by Spray Coating Technique for Photocatalytic and Photochemical Degradation of Methylene Blue (MB) [PDF]
Deposition of a thin layer of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) on glass substrates by spray coating techniques has been done. ZnO is a semiconductor with band gap energy of ~ 3.2 eV and has the properties as oxidation photo catalysts that will transform harmful ...

Measurements of Surface Diffusivity and Coarsening During Pulsed Laser Deposition
Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) of homoepitaxial SrTiO3 was studied with in-situ x-ray specular reflectivity and surface diffuse x-ray scattering. Unlike prior reflectivity-based studies, these measurements access both the time- and the length-scales of ...

Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Interface-dominated Growth of a Metastable Novel Alloy Phase
A new \textit{D0$_{23}$} metastable phase of Cu$_3$Au is found to grow at the interfaces of Au/Cu multilayers deposited by magnetron sputtering. The extent of formation of this novel alloy phase depends upon an optimal range of interfacial width ...
