Principle of Superposition by Direction Images

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2011
This paper discusses the decomposition of the image by direction images, which is based on the concept of the tensor representation and its advanced form, the paired representation. The 2-D image is considered of the size N×N, where N is prime, a power of two, and a power of odd primes.

The structure of DNA by direct imaging [PDF]

open access: yesScience Advances, 2015
The DNA helix and its internal structures were directly imaged; characteristic lengths and inner components were measured and reported.

A score for directional dominance in images

2017 25th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2017
The aim of this study is to develop a score calculation method for expressing directional dominance in the images. It is predicted that this score will give an information of how much improvement in system performance can be achieved when using a directional total variation-based regularization instead of a total variation.

Optical imaging with a directional detector

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2004
We demonstrate a new optical imaging technique based on a directional detector that measures the intensity of light waves that propagate only in a narrow angular window around a specific direction. Light waves that propagate in other directions do not significantly affect the detector output.

Future directions in imaging pouches

Abdominal Radiology, 2023
The sections of this special issue on the ileal pouch demonstrate that in the nearly 45 years since the ileal pouch has been utilized to treat patients with colitis and familial adenomatous polyposis, a substantial number of patients experience both short- and long-term morbidity and that imaging plays an important role in their management.

Imaging the Finger Force Direction

2007 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2007
This paper presents a method of imaging the coloration pattern in the fingernail and surrounding skin to infer fingertip force direction during planar contact. Nail images from 7 subjects were registered to reference images with RANSAC and then warped to an atlas with elastic registration.

The perceived direction of the binocular image

Vision Research, 1979
Abstract Despite small disparities between the two retinal images of an object, they may be perceived as a single binocular image. The aim of this study is to determine the direction in which this single binocular image is seen relative to where the monocular images would be seen if seen separately.

New Directions in Cardiac Imaging

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1985
Cardiac imaging is among the most commonly used diagnostic techniques in cardiovascular medicine. Conventional imaging modes (chest roentgenography, echocardiography, radionuclide imaging, and angiography) allow delineation of cardiac morphology, coronary anatomy, ventricular and valvular function, and cardiac shunts, and permit qualitative evaluation ...

Image-Directed Tumor Resection

Neurosurgery Clinics of North America, 1990
Intra-axial tumors can be localized by intraoperative real-time ultrasound, stereotactic computed tomography (CT), or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In the former, intraoperative ultrasound can help a surgeon find a tumor and assess the completeness of resection.

Directional subband coding of images

International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003
The authors present a novel subband coding method, directional subband coding of images. In order to match human visual sensitivity, an image is decomposed into a low-frequency component and many high-frequency directional components using a separable quadrature mirror filter and a directional filter.
