Review on surface characteristics of components produced by direct metal deposition process

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2022
Direct metal deposition (DMD) is a metal additive manufacturing (AM) process that builds objects layer by layer. The surface properties of DMD components are discussed in this study.

Complete fine-equiaxed β-columnar grains in laser direct energy deposition of Ti–6Al–4V parts

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Coarse β-columnar grains are often present in Ti–6Al–4V laser-additive-manufactured samples, resulting in anisotropic and inferior fatigue performance under dynamic loading.

Probabilistic neural network identification of an alloy for direct laser deposition

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2019
A neural network tool was used to discover a new nickel-base alloy for direct laser deposition most likely to satisfy targets of processability, cost, density, phase stability, creep resistance, oxidation, fatigue life, and resistance to thermal stresses.

Finite element modelling for part distortion calculation in selective laser melting

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2019
Additive manufacturing (AM) is presently a strong candidate for automotive, medical and aerospace applications. The present work focuses on the influence of laser scanning speed on part distortion, when depositing AISI 304 stainless steel using selective

Preparation and characterization of PLD deposited Indium Selenide thin film [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2014
Indium Selenide films were deposited by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) with a Nd-YAG laser under vacuum condition. During the deposition, the substrates were kept at room temperature. The typical thicknesses of films were 200nm, 800 nm.

Data related to influence of process parameters on the microstructure, structural and mechanical properties of additive manufactured titanium alloy composites

open access: yesData in Brief, 2022
Instead of tampering with the whole microstructure of titanium alloy base structure, direct laser metal deposition (DLMD) method can be used to target and solve a particular problem. This will result in extended application of titanium alloy.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created
