Direct methanol fuel cells for transportation
IEE Seminar on Electric, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Vehicles, 2000The author's progress made in the key areas for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) development for transport applications is discussed. A large-scale prototype DMFC stack has been built (25 cells of 270 cm/sup 2/ active area per cell, nominal power output 500 W) based on a flow bed design developed by the author with the aid of a flow visualisation study

Review of Direct Methanol Fuel Cells
2007Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFCs) are galvanic electrochemical flow systems that convert chemical energy from methanol and oxygen directly to electrical energy. This direct conversion avoids the limitations of the Carnot cycle that constrains the performance of engines and gives DMFCs a higher theoretical efficiency.
