The Non-Adiabatic Model of Air-Breathing Micro Direct Methanol Fuel Cells

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
A three-dimensional two-phase non-adiabatic model is proposed for air-breathing micro direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC). The coupled heat and mass transport, along with the electrochemical reactions occurring in the air-breathing DMFC are modeled.

Alkaline Direct Methanol Fuel Cell [PDF]

open access: yesECS Transactions, 2006
Polymer electrolyte membrane based direct methanol fuel cells (PEM-DMFC) have a complicated system design, and their fuel efficiency is limited by methanol cross-over through the proton exchange membrane. In addition, the methanol oxidation kinetics as well as oxygen reduction kinetics are quite slow in the acid electrolyte system. In contrast

Systematic analysis of the direct methanol fuel cell

open access: yesJournal of Applied Electrochemistry, 2006
The dynamic operating behaviour of the direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is governed by several physico-chemical phenomena which occur simultaneously: double layer charging, electrode kinetics, mass transport inside the porous structures, reactant distributions in the anode and cathode flowbeds etc.

Electrochemical Analysis of Direct Methanol Fuel Cells for Low Temperature Operation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2006
The electrochemical behaviour of Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFCs) was investigated at low temperatures (30°C-60°C). An 85 wt% Pt-Ru (1:1 a/o)/C anode catalyst and a 60 wt% Pt/C cathode catalyst were in-house prepared and characterised. The influence of

Current Density Performances in Poly Ether Ether Keton Membrane for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The objective of this study focuses on the characterization of poly ether ether ketone (PEEK) membranes for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC) application. The PEEK membrane was modified with sulfonation in NMP solvent.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Fabrication and Characterization of a Conductive Proton Exchange Membrane Based on Sulfonated Polystyrenedivinylbenzene Resin-Polyethylene (SPSDR-PE): Application in Direct Methanol Fuel Cells [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2017
A novel proton exchange membrane has been prepared using sulfonated poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) resin(SPSDR)–polyethylene(PE). The membrane is characterized by FT-IR, SEM and TGA/DSC.

Octahedral gold-silver nanoframes with rich crystalline defects for efficient methanol oxidation manifesting a CO-promoting effect

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Direct methanol fuel cells are promising for clean, sustainable energy, but catalysts should be optimized. Here the authors construct ultrathin nanoframes with rich crystalline defects to increase electrocatalytic activity of gold for methanol oxidation,

Facile Preparation of Carbon Membranes Derived from a Fluorenyl‐Containing Polyimine for Selective Hydrogen Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fluorenyl‐containing polyimine is introduced as a simple, scalable precursor for high‐performance carbon membranes. The precursor's intrinsic kinked structure enables defect‐free membrane formation with enhanced hydrogen permeance and excellent ideal selectivities for key industrial gas pairs (H2/N2, H2/CH4, and H2/CO2), offering a practical route ...
