Direct Current Drive with Observer

open access: yesElektronika ir Elektrotechnika, 2008
Design of direct current drive with reduced order observer, applied for estimation of armature current is analyzed. Current is controlled by relay controller with histeresis loop. This method allows avoiding of controllable direct current voltage source. The system requires to measure just one output signal – motor speed.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Tracking individual membrane proteins and their biochemistry: The power of direct observation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The advent of single molecule fluorescence microscopy has allowed experimental molecular biophysics and biochemistry to transcend traditional ensemble measurements, where the behavior of individual proteins could not be precisely sampled.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Direct Observation of the M1 Transition between the Ground Term Fine Structure Levels of W VIII [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present a direct observation of the M1 transition between the fine structure splitting in the 4 f 13 5 s 2 5 p 6 2 F ground term of W VIII. The spectroscopic data of few-times ionized tungsten ions are important for the future

Using Computer Vision to Annotate Video-Recoded Direct Observation of Physical Behavior

open access: yesSensors
Direct observation is a ground-truth measure for physical behavior, but the high cost limits widespread use. The purpose of this study was to develop and test machine learning methods to recognize aspects of physical behavior and location from videos of ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

An improved chamber for direct visualisation of chemotaxis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
There has been a growing appreciation over the last decade that chemotaxis plays an important role in cancer migration, invasion and metastasis. Research into the field of cancer cell chemotaxis is still in its infancy and traditional investigative tools

Direct observation of tensile-strain-induced nanoscale magnetic hardening

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Magnetoelasticity is the bond between magnetism and mechanics, but the intricate mechanisms via which magnetic states change due to mechanical strain remain poorly understood.

A direct coupling coherent quantum observer [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2014
This paper considers the problem of constructing a direct coupling quantum observer for a closed linear quantum system. The proposed observer is shown to be able to estimate some but not all of the plant variables in a time averaged sense. A simple example and simulations are included to illustrate the properties of the observer.
