Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Direct observation of excitonic polaron in InAs/GaAs quantum dots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report a direct observation of excitonic polaron in InAs/GaAs quantum dots using the photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. We observe that a new peak s' emerges below the s-shell which has anomalous temperature dependence emission energy.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

ADAPTING A BITE CODING GRID FOR SMALL RUMINANTS BROWSING A DECIDUOUS TROPICAL FOREST

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2014
The aim of this study was to build a bite coding grid that considers the diversity of plant parts consumed by sheep and goats in the heterogeneous vegetation of a deciduous tropical forest.

DIRECT OBSERVATION OF REROUTING PHENOMENA IN TRAFFIC NETWORKS [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Transport, 2014
In this paper we propose how available dataset can be used to estimate rerouting phenomena in traffic networks. We show how to look at set of paths observed during unexpected events to understand the rerouting phenomena.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
