Direct ophthalmoscopy in pediatric emergency care

Pediatric Emergency Care, 2001
Thorough knowledge about the basic ophthalmic examination is instrumental in the emergency department (ED) to determine the severity of eye emergencies and to develop a plan for treatment, including the possible need for an ophthalmology consultation.

High Magnification Direct Ophthalmoscopy

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1978
The combination of a high minus setting of the ophthalmoscope and an extra positive lens in front of the patient's eye forms a Galilean telescope that increases magnification in direct ophthalmoscopy. The telescope magnification equals the ratio between objective and ocular focal lengths.

Mydriatic Solution for Indirect Ophthalmoscopy

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1981
To the Editor. —We read with interest the article "Mydriatic Solution for Outpatient Indirect Ophthalmoscopy" in theArchives(1980;98:1572-1574) by Sinclair et al. Their results support our findings reported earlier ( Am J Ophthalmol 1980;89:553-559), which, apparently, the authors did not have the opportunity to see during the processing of their ...

DIRECT OPHTHALMOSCOPY WITH SIMULTANEOUS COLOUR TELEVISION TRANSMISSION

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1979
The authors have developed a direct ophthalmoscope with simultaneous television transmission. The ophthalmoscope is used clinically for student as well as postgraduate teaching and for intercollegial discussion of retinal changes which give rise to differential diagnostic difficulties.

Astigmatism correction in direct ophthalmoscopy

Fourth International Conference on Applications of Optics and Photonics, 2019
We present experimental data using an artificial eye in order to show how much astigmatism significantly reduces the quality of the retinal images obtained with a panoptic direct ophthalmoscope with two different magnifications (no magnification and a 6x magnifier.

Comparison of two ophthalmoscopes for direct ophthalmoscopy.

Clinical & experimental ophthalmology, 2011
To measure the ease of use and performance of the Optyse lens-free ophthalmoscope compared with the standard Keeler pocket ophthalmoscope, and to assess its suitability as an inexpensive ophthalmoscope for medical students.Randomized cross-over study.Twenty second-year medical students, 10 as ophthalmoscopists ('observers') and 10 as 'patients ...

Lateral and Longitudinal Magnification in Direct and Indirect Ophthalmoscopy

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1971
Object-image relationships in a reduced schematic eye have been considered for both direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy. Certain distorting effects of lateral and longitudinal magnification in ophthalmoscopy have been defined and compared. The model described allows first order evaluation of imagery for both axial and oblique viewing of the patient's ...
