4D Printing of Self‐Immolative Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The integration of self‐immolative polymers (SIPs) into light‐based 3D printed structures is presented as a new “living” 4D printing strategy. By exploiting their metastability and stimuli‐responsiveness, SIP‐containing printed objects can undergo rapid and triggered degrowth under ambient conditions and subsequent regrowth through polymer ...

Upcycling of Disposable Face Masks into Water‐Resistant and Flame Retardant Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Disposable mask waste is upcycled into lightweight polypropylene‐based foams with tunable porosity and composite architectures reinforced by ear‐loop fibers. The sustainable solvent‐based process enables upcycling rates of 91% and solvent recovery of >90%.

Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002: Commodity Programs for Crops [PDF]

open access: yes
The 2002 Farm Security and Rural Investment Act provides for three different types of payments to agricultural producers and landowners: direct, counter-cyclical and loan deficiency payments. Eligiable recipients will have the opportunity to update their

Modulating Interfacial Potential Gradients in Metal−Carbon Catalysts via Phase‐Engineering for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is elucidated that phase engineering of cobalt modulates the interfacial potential gradients of cobalt–carbon electrocatalysts, enhancing the intrinsic electrocatalytic performance. Modulating the dominant crystalline phase of cobalt from a hexagonal close‐packed to a face‐centered cubic enriches the electron density of carbon shells, thereby ...

The fortune of modulation in the process of CAP reform [PDF]

open access: yes
Direct payments have progressively become the largest and most visible form of support in the CAP tool-box. Analyses on direct payments have always highlighted a large inequality in their distribution, both between Member States and, within them, among ...

Individualised funding, social inclusion and the politics of mental health [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper explores how the changing nature of welfare provision can open up, or close down, opportunities for people with mental health needs to organise their own lives and develop their own communities.

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

The Efficiency of Direct Payments versus Tax Reductions under Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyzes the optimal behavior of farmers in the presence of direct payments and uncertainty. In an empirical analysis for Switzerland, it confirms previously obtained theoretical results and determines the magnitude of the theoretical ...

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...
