Mammalian Osteoderm Ultrastructure in the Armored Acomys Spiny Mouse Tail

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The ultrastructure of armored platelets – termed osteoderms – in the tail skin of Acomys cahirinus spiny mice is characterized using 2D and 3D microscopy methods. The imbricated structure is composed of calcium phosphate biomineral and has select structural elements that are bone‐like and tooth‐like in nature.

Surface Micro‐Discharge Plasma for Multiple Teeth Bleaching: Efficacy, Mechanism and Safety

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is the commonly‐used bleaching chemical in clinical practice, but its excessive concentrations can cause tooth damage. Atmospheric pressure cold plasma is considered a promising new technique for tooth bleaching. Surface micro‐discharge (SMD) devices can generate large‐scale plasma, which holds potential for treating ...

The First World War at Sea: Death, Commemoration and Cultural Remembrance

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite the ever‐increasing body of work devoted to war memorials, national days of remembrance and the commemoration of the First World War in Britain, academic focus remains firmly on the commemoration of the First World War on land. Yet, while the number of people who died at sea paled in comparison to their counterparts on the battlefield ...

Fertilising Climate Policy: The Dual Impact of CBAM on EU Agricultural Emissions and Regional Disparities

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), scheduled to become fully operational in 2026, is designed to complement the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) by replacing free emission allowances and preventing carbon leakage to non‐EU regions. CBAM initially covers energy‐intensive sectors, including mineral nitrogen (N) fertiliser production.

[Calcitonin in direct and indirect pulp capping].

open access: yesCzasopismo stomatologiczne, 1991
Calcitonin, the hormone produced by C cells of the thyroid playing a great role in calcium homeostasis, was used for direct and indirect pulp capping. This procedure was done on 200 teeth. Late follow-up after 12, 18 and 24 months or even longer was obtained in 146 cases: 110 with indirect pulp capping and 36 with direct capping. In the first follow-up
